The reality is that it is a defect in the HVAC duct system. When defrost is not on then no air should be vented to the windshield. It is that simple. This car blows ice cold air out the defrost vent. Just stick you hand up there when the AC is on and you will feel a nice flow of cold air. What is the point of letting any cold air escape to the defrost vent during normal AC operation? Are we trying to cool the windshield? If so, it is working and creating more condesation than 2 ice cold beers sitting in the summer sun. Let's just call it what it is, a defect. It may be normal for 2016 Camaros but it is not normal for cars as a whole.

IT IS NORMAL.
my 16 year old Trans Am does it. My wife's 2010 Prius does it. Some turn off the AC and don't have it. The rest do. It is 100% normal and completely dependent on where you live and how long you drive. My 3 miles every few days is not enough. GET OVER IT

GM needs to add a line item on the window sticker under Safety & Security stating:
Excessive fogging on windshield will be present while running A/C, this condition is normal and is a characteristic of this car. |

I must be from another school of thought. If I like something then I will find a way to make it work.
Cover the defrost vents and stop whining. This will solve your issue. All of you do crazy ass upgrades on your cars but won't spend $10 to fix your issue. This thread has been going on for days and what have you accomplished, nothing. Sell the car or fix it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Somebody should try this:
I went to Hobby Lobby and looked at all the stuff they have, trying to build something on the fly. Get some heavy stock paper, they have various sizes and colors, choose a color close to dash color, find some double stick tape, they have various types. Cut a template of the vent using scrape paper, to get size, cover the red security light also. The vent has a small boarder around the whole vent assy. Use double stick tape around edge of cut paper, cut hole for security light, double stick around edge. The double stick tape should be tacky enough to seal edge and stop cold air from drifting onto windshield. My vent doesn't feel like a high force of cold air, but some cold air does exit. I haven't cut, built, this yet, but in theory, it might work. Maybee Chevrolet Customer Service lurking around on this forum will see this, and have GM design engineers, build something like this for a fix/repair. Fogging windshield

I ordered my car exactly like I wanted it with npp exhaust, 6 piston brakes, mrc, etc. so that I wouldn't have to mod it. Not everyone wants a racekar. So I guess spending 52k makes me a cheap ass. Also, being that I don't feel that I should have to stop by the dollar store for some bubble gum wrappers and ducktape to rig my car channeling my inner macgyver doesn't make me non dedicated. I love the car and if I didn't I wouldn't hesitate to get rid of it. It is plenty fast, great handling, solid braking, looks beautiful and that's what made me buy it. But everyone has their limits when it comes to something that is such a horrible flaw. Why should we have to just toss 10 grand down the drain in depreciation because of this either??? If some people want to accept poor quality then so be it but not everyone is settler. I'm done with this thread along with the sarcastic comments and insinuations. If anyone that is experiencing this issue like I am has any questions about this dead end street feel free to pm me. Maybe I can save you the trouble of multiple trips to the stealerships and dealing with GM. |

Be creative and make your car safe. Your own safety is in your hands. I don't care if you use bubble gum wrappers and duct tape or if you cut some plexiglass, do something. If you really want to make a point with GM, start a poll on here. Find out how many people are having the issue and report it. Numbers talk, whining doesn't. Again, the safety of you and your family fully lies in your hands at this point. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Yeah I didn't buy a $45k car, to have to throw some BS up on the dash to block vents to prevent fogging.... This is about the simplest thing GM could have designed and/or corrected.
This is NOT normal, and it is NOT safe. It's ridiculous to have to run your windshield wipers on a hot sunny day... Or turn your AC to 75* inside on a 100* day... Granted there is nothing the dealers can do...it's a design problem, plain and simple. This is one aspect of the 6G that GM dropped the ball on. Unfortunately, it will take some deadly accidents and law suits to make them do something about it.

I'm still Navy after 26 years....I understand your "school of thought", but having to cover & uncover the vents....just isn't an option. This is the first car I've ever had that does this & GM needs to fix it. |
