It appears he was the driver. More detail from the local paper here:

Even more reason to keep your mouth shut if you do not know what exactly is going on. You were not there so, zip it.

Also, Camaro is a uni body. Not that hard to tear one in half and at nowhere near the speed mentioned. All it takes is a straight side hit from an In-movable object and it will easily almost wrap completely around it.

And the dad of the year award? Real mature. Bet your mom is real proud

It has nothing to do with being mature, it has to do with being objective. Had the dad not decided to recklessly speed with his daughter in the car and therefore, lose control of the car, the girl would still be alive.

The only tragedy is the young girl's death and the family now having to live with the poor decision made by the father.

You can go ahead and keep shedding your tears and retreat back to your safe space free of triggers.

I'm not condoning street racing...but you can't stop people from doing it, at least not completely. If you're going to do it, then just be careful. And take into consideration the fact that you could lose your life, your freedom, cause a death, etc.

Has nothing to do with being objective. If that was the case, you would never leave your home. You could leave and have someone with you. Get hit by another car or truck. Just a somple, plain accident. One of you gets killed. Well, by your excellent thought process, if you would not have left the house, both of you would still be alive.

I know of an instance where a woman was pushing her stroller with her child in it. They lived in one of the big cities.Car with driver not paying attention hit a light pole. Pole fell on stroller and killed child. Going by yor excellent wisdom, mother's fault kid is dead because she should have not left the house.

Don't need a safe space. I am here for all comers. No tears either. Sure it has something to do with being mature. Common sense, manners and , being respectfull are all things we are taught. It seems some, forget them all when they get on their high horse with their holier than though attitudes. And I will be straight up with you. You better be glad that was not one of my family members (How is that for being objective? If you would not have opened your mouth and said it Right?). Rude and stupid, are just plain rude and stupid. And those comments you and the others made are both.

5th gen ZL1, not really a fit in this forum. He had to be well in the triple digits to shear the car in two on a light pole.

You only get one life (as far as we know) and this guys actions killed his young daughter at only 17. That's the real tragedy here. And, for what? Just to win some stupid street race with a Mustang or Challenger or Import?

I'm not saying I never did any stoplight to stoplight when I was younger, but I always knew when to back off before speeds got too high. With the way that Camaro looks, this guy was definitely going more than 100+ mph. Well over 100+ mph. So sad and senseless. His wife now gets to suffer a lifetime for his recklessness.

Really? You know what happened? ___Tire blow? Something ran out in front of him? Hit a puddle of water? Driver error?

All it takes is any one of those mentioned, at any speed, and it could be your next to last ride. Last being the hearse.

Come on guys. Going by your train of thought and foresight into what happened was the daughter scared? Was she trying to get him to not do it? Was she egging him on? Was she trying to get her dad to beat someone she knew?

Jeezzzz

That's sad... There's no way he wasn't in triple digits for that to happen with all the pictures and incidents of 5th Gen crashes on here for one to be sheared in half I can only imagine the speed.

You arent very bright, are you? No worries, rhetorical question.

Stupid guy drives reckless with his daughter in the vehicle and kills her and your snowflake self finds a way to excuse his actions and shed tears for him. Laughable.

I guess you would also know more than the cops that are at the scene conducting an investigation? Yet again, another rhetorical question.

This didn't happen "at any speed" for a car to be completely warped like this, around a street sign!? Simple physics here, extremely high rate of speed will cause a car to be unrecognizable. Witnesses say he was racing, I doubt he was going 20mph over the speed limit in a Supercharged V8 engine.

Very Very Sad.

The guy was the same age as me, makes you think that if your going to put your foot down in these high power cars....... do it by yourself. So sad for family.
