Well, it turns out frsport and eurosporttuning don't actually have the shift boot collars in stock, even though their websites indicate "in stock." Shocking.

I hit up a few other places that indicate they have stock, but I'm not holding my breathe. I'm probably just helping these places shore-up inventory errors lol.

Well that's news! I haven't heard from frsport yet. Maybe it's because they don't have them!

How did you find out? Emailed them or did they contact you? If you do find some, please let me know... We may both be helping them fix inventory errors. Maybe we should be compensated!

Once I placed the order with frsport, I received an order confirmation but never received a shipment notification. I sent a few follow up emails asking status and they responded (1 week after placing order, finally) saying they don't have them in stock and will place an order with the MFG. I responded saying the item is discontinued and MFG is closing shop at the end of the year - I haven't received a reply yet.

I received my raceseng knob & extender yesterday and installed them last night. I haven't drove the car yet.

Edit: Here's a picture. I fastened the adapter to the shifter 1" higher than the lowest position, because I felt the lowest position was too low. Actually, I may buy the 3.8" extender from Raceseng. lol

^^^^ This is really good info I very much appreciate you sharing!

I got the same setup as you except with engraving. I'm kinda surprised how heavy it feels! It might be awesome but I just don't know both in terms of weight and the extension. It will definitely feel different!

So, are you saying it would be hard to revert back if I so chose? And the only great way is to buy an extra boot assembly?

Oh and lastly, FRSport said the same stupid shit to me. I will email them and request a refund.

I was surprised by how heavy the slammer knob felt, too.
The stock shift knob weighs .90 lbs., so it's about 65% of the Raceseng slammer's weight.

You can revert to stock.

Side note: I didn't realize there are 2 clips on the OEM shift knob that help retain the boot retainer to the knob (see below). The clips are really stiff. You may try jamming a long/thin flat nose screwdriver in the opening on each side off the retainer to engage the clips on the knob, then try to pull remove the clip without separating the boot from the clip. Hopefully you will have an easier time of it than I did.

I suggest not removing the oem shift boot retainer from the shift boot (they're glued together).

Edit: I removed the Barton install video because, in hindsight, I don't think it's the best way to go about this.

Yeah I had the same problem trying to remove mines as well! I broke the plastic peice that guy mentioned in the video when I did that I knew I wasn’t going back to stock anyways because I got tired of cleaning the shift knob. The Alcantara did form to it better than the leather so I can see that. In the meantime that’s why I was bringing this product because of the heavy quality of the shift knob and the extender. I don’t think I could do the 3.8” but the 1.8 is perfect for me and definitely enjoy the driving experience now than I did before. I pulled the trigger and go a red one but this time is the Ashiko so I can go back and forth, I’m still testing it out on which one I like but for the price it’s easier to get it now and regret later. I’m glad you guys got them and it’s sucks FRsport operation sucks! That’s one company I won’t shop with in the future. I can’t wait to hear yall driving feedback with it but sitting in the car I bet you guys feel the difference just rowing the gears in the driveway

Again, very useful info!

Good to know there's some weight in the stock shifter too so maybe it won't be a crazy difference in that regard.

So given all this info, I think I'll look for a used boot for sale to easily swap back if need be. I'm already looking for a base trunk lid for a wing I just purchased.

I'm just a little concerned whether I'll like/love or maybe dislike the RacesEng stuff. I track around 12 times a year and how it feels when on track is very important. Three things to adjust to... height, weight and shifter shape. I guess I'll see!

Nice! Weird how they now have stock.

frsport emailed me this morning saying they located one.

After having the knob and extender mounted, I feel like the collar isn't really needed, especially since the extender has a flared base, but the collar will still clean things up a bit.

I ended up moving the adapter all the way down on the shifter because the boot kept sagging when it was mounted 1" up. I went for a long drive yesterday and I'm pleased with the change. The added height and weight decreased the shifting effort and reduced the notchiness. It's a big improvement, but not a cure-all.

Yeah I think they holding on to stuff or found loose stuff hanging around, What's weird I see a few shift knobs in clearance that wasn't there before.

I'm glad you enjoying it though and notice the improvement like I did. Definitely a game changer for me.

Did the adapter come with the shift knob? I see they have the adapter available separately, BUT, with the knob, they only have "no adapter/I already have one" as an option. No options to get it with the knob, which I'm pretty sure was an option a few weeks ago.

They used to have an option to get the adapter with the shift knob.
