It sounds like trash to me. My mom has a 2012 camry that sounds way better.
As everyone else said didn't buy the car for the stereo. Aftermarket can fix it up. |

Honestly, I think it's pretty decent... especially if you change the fader to be 40/60 front/back. Gives it a much more balanced sound in the car, it should be the default IMO... makes a huge difference. But agreed with most who said it already, it's a 1LE so it's not going to sound like a 7 series bimmer's stereo.

It's a lot better than the stereo I had in my STI. But that's a pretty low bar.
Honestly I think it sounds perfectly fine at low speeds or stopped. It doesn't have the oomph to sound good when trying to compete with the howl from the tires, but that's a losing battle anyway. |

It's barely OK while listening via the USB. Bluetooth or radio is piss poor. I'll start with decent, efficient aftermarket speakers and see if that helps.
But the NPP is the bomb. |

That's a good point. It's hilariously bad when it plays music over bluetooth, but when I plug my phone in via USB it's a lot better.

If you set the exhaust mode to stealth and roll the windows up, it isn't terrible.
But that's no fun at all. I'll be looking at options for a 5 channel amp and probably a JL stealthbox. |

Honestly - I have a BOSE in my Sierra and it's great, and while it isn't as good as that (or the BOSE in a 2SS), I'm not like... so annoyed with it that I've wanted to get other speakers or anything... Just cranked the treble and bass, and move up the mids and it's been fine.
I use almost exclusively Android auto though, so that might help

It isn't great. My DD is a 2012 Jeep Wrangler and that system sounds better. I have read horror stories about trying to upgrade the 1LE sound system. I don't believe there is an amp. People have added a sub to the trunk successfully by, I believe, using line level inputs from the front speaker. Some have had issues with the speaker input providing enough to trigger the amp on and have tapped into the fuse location for the wireless charging port, since we don't have/use that and it is 12v switched location in the trunk... This is all from memory so I could be wrong on some of this (?)

I do agree that with some adjusting you can get good sound from 1ss 1le system , also some after market speakers would help. The system in the 2ss is not much better in my opinion . |

I owned a 2ss for 3k miles before UPGRADING to the 1LE, and I can tell you, the 2SS was head and shoulders better than the 1LE. I have since remedied the issue, but it does cost $$.
