Ok, take a deep breath people! I haven't had a chance to investigate the red flag issue until last week. I brought the car for service and heard the same bs from the service advisor regarding the red flag and abuse. I was also asking about the front spring swap for the 2018 and he was totally unhelpful. Fed up, I wrote a letter to the service manager regarding all this. Today I missed a call from the GM who left a message saying he was looking into it and would take care of everything. He also stated "I don't know who said that you have been seen on the track or have been red flagged as they are track cars." I'm supposed to be getting a call from the service manager... Seems like it may have been coming from the service advisor all this time. I'll keep you updated.

So the plot thickens... I spoke briefly with the GM of the dealership who confirmed that someone from chevy saw the car on the race track and red flagged it because it was "heavily modified." The GM is cool and is ignoring the red flag bs. They have seen my car multiple times which is bone stock...

I think it must have been at Sears Point (Sonoma Raceway). I was instructing with NASA and running the car in Time Trial. The instructors were asked to run in the Time Trial group with a transponder. Time trial grids up according to fastest times. With the awesome performance of this car, I ended up near the front surrounded by race cars. I was a little nervous about my shiny new car getting roughed up but these were all good drivers.

So some schmuck from chevy sees a ZL1 on track and red flags for being heavily modified without even looking closely at the car?? WTF? I'm going to press the issue next week to find out who it was.

I'm still not buying that.

They have daily OnStar data dumps that log WOT, Impacts, MPG, GPS location and speed calcs and other sensor readings.

GM would not risk documenting an allegation without hard evidence, (as their hack attorneys wouldn't assume that liability), as a GM employee's word is only hearsay.

I still say its related to OnStar data dump and GM analytics that initiated the GM internal flags.

Even if that were true, a GM rep at the track that day, how would they have marked your car specifically from another 3 miles down the road? He would have had to take down your VIN at least?

My own completely unsupported guess is that one of the techs saw it at the track and assumed themselves that this voided the warranty, not realizing that isn't the case as with some other brands.

You're indicate GM wouldn't make an assumption like that yet you are making an assumption that OnStar is providing them non-anonymized, which we have already verified is stated in their terms of service.

You're also assuming GM is not honoring a service request because of something OnStar is capable of tracking? I'm not aware of any of those parameters that have been determined to be warranty voiding.

What am I missing here?

Best laptime for that weekend was 1:52.4. The car has a lot more in it, I just have to have the balls to push it more. I will be there Sept 9,10 weekend instructing. I will keep an eye out for you Mark. I've been the only ZL1 out there.

Looking up my time I realized that my name was posted in Time Trial results so it would have been easy to look up...

I seriously doubt a tech or any dealership employee has anything to do with it. I doubt they'd have the ability to do it even if they wanted to. That would likely take someone working for GM (field engineer, market rep, etc.).

While I don't know anything concrete, I've heard of manufacturers sending representatives to track events to identify cars. I don't see this being from OnStar data alone.

Was this car totally stock? No track wheels/tires on it?

I can't recall in the 6 pages here, but had you already contacted GM customer support? There would have to be a log or source of this somewhere somehow. There's no way there wouldn't be a paper trail. Especially, again, given this would need to be VIN related.

Did you have to provide your VIN to anyone for the event?
