The auto SS will also do a sub 4 second 0-60. This is on runflats with no special packages or "drag modes" required. I'm happy that Ford finally grew a pair and maybe caught up with Camaro and Chally/Charger. But let's not read too much into that press statement just yet. There will be testing done and comparisons. I just hope they fixed the body panel alignments and drivetrain vibrations and clunking.....

No just according to multiple independent testing results.

Cool, but since we don't have those for the Mustang, let's stick to what the manufacturers claim.

GM performance numbers have been conservative for some time. But Ford has never made performance numbers from what I remember. They could be like Dodge ones and be in perfect conditions or conservative like GM. Either argument is pointless until we get independent testing.

Wish I had the Mustang so I could be 0.2 sec faster to 60 mph when using the special drag launch mode!

Haha. Buy what speaks to you.

Before you start beating that drum for the Oval let's keep in mind Ford's last big Mustang claims: S550 weighs less and beats the S197 in performance.

They've never made those claims. Sources please.

“From day one, we knew if we were going to build a new Mustang, we had to do it right,” said Pericak. “We built a new Mustang from the ground up that is quicker, better-looking, more refined and more efficient".

How many buttons do SS owners push now when drag racing? Traction control off? Sport mode for A8 owners? One more button is a bridge too far or just something to bitch about to suit an argument? Z06 owners have to jump through hoops to get max performance from a vette at the strip and nobody has complained. I won't even get started on Tesla.

and it was quicker, around a road course. Perciak never specified drag racing.

What Ford said was that it was faster than the Boss 302. Which it wasn't. In fact the GT PP is slower on a road course than a v6 1LE. I owned both a 197 and 550 Mustang. The S550 has been a huge disappointment. Have they fixed the poor performance? Not sure. But they have been misleading in their press statements with this platform since 2013.

2 taps on the TCS button assuming you are in sport or track, that's it. But it isn't the extra buttons that's a bit cheap, it's the need to have a separate mode for drag racing. What's the chances someone can do it at a stoplight in a spur of the moment? Or staging at the track? People already forget to turn things on/off as is, this just adds to the checklist. It's the reason I hate launch control on cars. Short of just being out to set a time, they aren't very practical. Wish they just programmed Track mode to do things you need at any track/strip to begin with. I'd rather hit a button on a disclaimer once than 4 or 5 different selections to do what you should be doing in Track mode to begin with.

He never specified a track either. Usually if you are going to talk about track times you talk about handling, or being quicker around a specific track. You don't really say a car is faster on the strip than the previous car, you say it is quicker. As he used in that context, it could mean anything.

But Ford giving a specific time to 60 is not something they have done before either. So we will see how they measure up soon.

Why are you so furious? Maybe you want to read that I have buyer's remorse because Mustang >>>>>> Camaro. Well if it makes you happy, I have buyer's remorse because Mustang >>>>>> Camaro. Bwahaha. Cheer up.

Took the words right out of my mouth about V6 1LE. The S550 needs to catch up to the Focus RS and the V6 1LE before we start talking about it competing with the SS.
