That won't work either, don't waste your money on the backup ECM. Mileage won't match and it has the VIN in it. To change them you have to flash it... Just hope you don't need any major drivetrain warranty work.

Here's a thread over in the 1LE forum about this GM intake. Spoiler alert, the only known data we have is:

1. One dyno showing a loss of power
2. One member's butt dyno claiming it lost power. He reverted back to stock.
3. One member's butt dyno claiming it's faster because it takes longer to get to redline which doesn't make sense because gears are fixed. Seems like he also lost power but who knows.

For now it sounds like something is wrong and I'd wait until it's cleared up.

Exactly. Now if you can get the VIN specific coding to match and everything works, you would want to tune the backup and leave your factory ECU completely untouched. But I bet there are a lot more issues than just doing that.

Thanks for sharing! The only thing that's giving me pause is that I have seen the tables in HP Tuners showing increased airflow from the intake. It's doing its job, now whether that equals a power gain will require more dyno data but I can vouch for the airflow being increased from the table changes alone.

Even if he were to use another ECM when he goes to swap the original back in his mileage wont match correct? There has to be a way to modify the data in these with the right equipment. GM isn't outsmarting todays techies.

Not going to be equipment, will be software. You need a way to modify the stock files without changing the write count/checksum.

Also evident is that our power gains do not come from MAF skew. In other words, our system does not rely on leaning out your AFR to make power. The Roto-fab CAI offers truly improved mass air flow!!

Thanks again for your inquiry,

Thank you - that is a great point

Do you have your 1LE yet? I've had the Audi S4 biturbo, S4 V8, RS4, and A4 2.0T, all modified and I don't miss them at all. All I've done is roto fab w/ sound tube delete and Borla mid pipe. No comparison to Audi. They just are not anywhere near the cutting edge any longer. They're lazy.

can you really hear the intake? I have had many NA and many turbo cars - I always enjoy the turbo aftermarket intakes way more than any of my previous NA cars with CAI...

I have no idea if I hear the intake. I hear the engine and exhaust, there must be intake in there as well. I'm not as focused on intake noise. Overall the performance and sound is better than any Audi I've owned.

OP you will not have any noticeable power gain from either CAI by itself. But as part of a performance build they are a component of good build.

Even on their own they look cool and have a nice sound. And if you can get rid of that awful sound tube even better.

Neither one by itself will affect your warranty.

They are both quality parts.

Six of one, 1/2 a dozen of the other.

Not Yet That is a great list of cars. I'm between Cold air inductions and rotofab.

Glad to hear we're in the running! If you have any questions about the Roto-fab system, I would be glad to help anytime.
