Still very inconclusive information. Mishimoto seems to have discovered an alternative way to get more done.

I agree with oem. I had a catch can on the "turbo" line for over a year and never caught more than oem did when I did check it. The Mishi kit nails it by patching into the internal PCV port on the valve cover.

Dang. I feel bad for asking. It's like I started a big internet catch can street fight.

No it's nothing new jist funmy when EE gets going after mishimoto literally explained the entire process with proof and we all have seen the results.

I do like the mishi setup but its sooo expensive. I wish they'd just sell the tap so I can run my own cans. I do like the cap from elite but I might just wait till they have a forum discount or sale.

![]() Our apologies, THIS is the correct diagram, we posted the old one my error. Just for clarification, we have these on hundreds of 2.0T engines trapping oil and preventing the issues. And to go further, we still have the open challenge. Place our E2-X can in series after ANY other can and run 2,000 miles and drain both documenting what they trap, ours will trap as much or more that gets past the first can than it traps. Then clean both cans and reverse the order for the same miles driven and almost nothing gets past ours. That simple. Proven time and time again. |

There are coalescing filters out there originally designed for the aerospace industry that, on a car as a "catch can" will simply collect everything and anything fed to it because they were designed with that in mind. Every product has a cost target and a development budget - once you say "any" you open up to coalescing filters that utilize cryo processes, CFD nozzles, beds, reactors, and even ones with sacrificial media that requires regular replacement to enhance performance. |

Seeing as I have an E2-X can here that I've never used. I could do this "challenge", but I'm not sure I want to waste my time. |

![]() ![]() Vs mishi ![]() Mishi can is a POS, I've always known that. But they figured out the routing. Ee can with mishi Magic tap and routing would be best. But who's going to spend the $$ to buy both? Yeah, there is a stainless steel pot scrubber inside the EE chamber. Could put one in the mishi can, but vapor will still bypass it rather than being forced through it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Random video on youtube of a guy putting a Moroso against an RX Can. Moroso pulled just under 4oz and RX pulled just under 2oz.
There are a million ways to skin a cat and design a catch can - between engineering budgets and manufacturing/material cost targets everything varies. Worse still catch can design A might work better on vehicle 1 than catch can B, but on vehicle 2 B might work better than A. Then on vehicle 3, A might work better than B in one climate and B might work better than A in another climate. Quote:
The easiest way to theoretically (because I haven't had one of the chemical or process engineers here model it and run the thing for CFD to actually check their design, but based on what we've done in the past) improve mishi's can would be to extend their inlet line by replacing the diverter plate with a tube that went lower in the can and then did a stack of baffle plates - the problem is in doing so you dramatically increase the differential pressure across the can and what you could end up with is a can that's too restrictive and instead of getting lets say 8 scfm of oily vapor out of the crankcase and 80% of the oil separated from it before returning it to the engine you get only 4 scfm of oily vapor out but trap 95% of the oil. Which is actually better? Take the baffles too far and you end up with a tesla valve and the thing doesn't even work. Seen those before too. |
