While nothing is confirmed yet, with 7 non overdrive fwd gears in the 10 speed...I would assume the A10 combined with 3.55 gearing is going to be steeper than the current A6. The current combo has a final drive ratio of 14.8:1, which is fairly respectable....if the stock converter was matched a bit better. In order for the 18GT to achieve sub 4 second 0-60 times, I would assume the A10 is shorter. Hell, the A10 in the ZL1 has a shorter first gear than the A8. I guarantee you the Mustang is gonna do a crappy quarter mile despite all these changes. And when the magazine testers get their hands on it, they're gonna say "Oh the Mustang could only muster a 12.7 despite all the improvements. It is likely engineered that way so as to not depose the Shelby, Ford's top dog Mustang while still trying to remain competitive to the SS"...

Gawd.. With the damn torque multiplication.
Again, it's a balancing act. Fact is the LT1 has much more grunt throughout the rev range at the crank. Both manufacturers can play with the gearing. |

I'm looking forward to seeing GT's running consistent 3.9 sec 60 times in the reviews. If they don't it can only mean one thing (using M6G logic). Ford lied. Fanboy - Moral of the story. You're making a lot of claims with next to no information. Put it down.

So there seems to be a lot of hate going on in here lol.
I own a 2016 Mustang GT PP and it isn't a terrible car. I like the way it looks and love the color combo (guard green with saddle interior). That said, the PP doesn't live up to the name, there have been a few issues with it including a full replace of the sync 3 system... twice. More body roll than I would like, preformance is a bit underwhelming. All that could be fixed for $$ but I am not going to. This car will be replaced with a 2SS 1LE sometime next year. The Camaro is just a much better car and while the Mustang will get better my experience with this one has left me a bit sour on them. |

To OP, no, do not believe it will match the SS Gen 6.
An aside, do not be to hard on the Mustang, as not sure GM would have brought back the Camaro if the Stang had gone away too when the C did. Then again GM may have seen a market and brought back the C. One thing for sure, the Mustang was a 310 or so HP dud when the C came back and forced Ford to get with it. |

I actually like the looks of the Mustang and would like one in Orange Fury and 6 speed manual. I just hope that it drives better than the 15-17.

I'd take a Mustang over many of the import "performance" cars, but Camaro still wins hands down for me.

Also the last gen Camaro weighed what, 200 or 250lbs more. This gen the Mustang is down on torque and up on weight. I certainly don't see any evidence of the GT one upping the SS, more like coming up to the same level, handling improvements remain to be seen. |

100% agree... love the GT PP. I'm hoping the 18 closes the gap, but don't think it will come close to a 1LE in performance. You owe me a test drive on a 2SS 1LE dammit

Wow, this thread has alot of drama.
The effective 1st gear ratio of the SS A8 is 12.63 (4.56x2.77) and the ZL1 A10 is 13.39 (4.70x2.85). If the '18 Mustang is equipped with the 3.55 final drive ratio than its first gear ratio is a whopping 16.68 (insert crowd clearing joke here). Harnessing that off idle smash on street tires will be a tall feat imo but I am happy that the Blue Oval boys are stepping up their game....it benefits all of us speed junkies. I say bring it on, and come get some !!!!
