3. Have all your financing donee when you walk in, also run your credit score, tell the sales mgr that.

Tried that once. I did auto transport & delivered to the dealership maybe a couple times per year & the sales mgr always signed off on my paper work. We always joked around a bit, were on first name basis etc. Anyway, told him was interested in a certain new vehicle he had in stock & lets get it done. He introduced me to a sales person. It is where I learned what handing ice to an eskimo must be like. Did not purchase there.

My point is that maybe going direct to the mgr will work at some places, but do not expect it at all of them.

Prices are high in general for sporty cars. I've been looking at used prices as well and dealerships want new prices for 3 year old used cars (mustangs, challengers, etc.). Of course they probably don't give you much for your trade in. Individuals are bad too. I see lots of ads where they post a used car with like new prices and state that's what I have in it so that's what I'm selling it for. People forget these are mass produced cars and thus depreciate. Fast cars are definitely a rich man's game.

Isn't a new loaded 2ss mid 40s on the sticker? Hard to believe they would knock close to $14k off.

Do an internet search and find one that has been sitting on the lot for 4 or 5 months. They will be ready to deal. I bought a brand new 17 SS with options that listed at just over $40k. Got it for just under $34k. But it was sitting in the dealers parking garage and on the lot for 6 month late summer to late winter. The dealer had to move it so they took my deal.
