By the way, if someone borrows your car or you have it serviced or valet...and they over rev...guess you’re on the hook there as well |

Wow. This makes me nervous now to buy a used car. Somebody over rev can sell their car and new owner will never know.

Wow! He said “7500 for a split second” guess that defines as way at the 10000 (jk) range. You win, make the op feel like garbage about his mistake and all is well now that you have him feeling destroyed, good job! |

If there is nothing perceivably wrong with the car it will do no good to take it to a dealer. They aren't a nascar pit crew. They'll look for lights or anything else obvious. Outside of that I doubt you'd be lucky to have even one guy there knowledgeable enough even know what you're talking about. This is the same group most of the site was doubting oil changing capabilities, right?

Finally some common sense! A good data log will show valve float or if you wanna push it...leak down pressure test to be absolutely sure but OP , I think you are gonna be ok |

Money shifts are usually mistakes and not intentional acts, but having the engine go above designed limits and causing damage due to the pistons and valves impacting is not a defect which warranties are meant to cover. GM covers its mistakes, not the drivers. But as others and myself earlier in this thread have said, if the engine is still running fine, the chance of that money shift causing damage is fairly low. Usually if the engine is to blow up due to a money shift, it will be the instant the valves and pistons make contact. |

As others have stated, you are most likely in the clear. If it was me just to help me sleep at night I'm at least going to pull the valve covers and look things over.

Good luck BTW - I hope this turns out well for you and the engine didn't over rev enough to float the valves.

What gets me is that GM has a reverse lockout to prevent a driver from accidentally going into reverse while going forward, it has a 2-3 lockout for the cags system, yet no high speed lockout. I wonder if the purpose of not having that is for aggressive driving/track use. Drove it about 100 miles today without fault, but I certainly babied the car today lol. Quote:
I'm not so much concerned about a warranty on the car as I plan on continuing modding. Although I plan on returning to stock before my next track trip, the car has a rotofab intake and we are working on an e85 kit/tune for it. It's also going to get a ported snout, upper pulley, ported tb, and cat delete. We hope to be between 600-650rwhp and then are putting on a standalone nitrous kit and hopefully break 800+ wheel. If something breaks and it doesn't get warrantied for obvious reasons, I'd completely understand, I'll just have to fix it myself. But another poster brings up a good point, what if I decided to valet my car one night and someone else did this instead of me? I'd be certainly be shocked if a couple years later I take it in and hear this news. The used purchase is a great point as well
