Posting Jeff Lutz's 12.50 in a M6 is kind of pointless considering he's not known for shifting gears. I managed a 12.21@116 bone stock M6 late last June in 1500-2000DA. I certainly agree that from a dig with a good driver that the A8 has the M6 beat. Most of which comes from the typical .15-.2 difference in 60ft times between the two. From a roll there doesn't seem to be near the difference, from my experience, from a roll the edge may actually go to the M6. Yes I know that some have pulled 11.9 runs in the A8, but it's literally like 1 out of 40 who seem to have been able to do this.

Jeff got a best of 12.4 with the M6 and 12.21 with the auto. I bet you if the DA was lower that would have yield lower times since Arizona is hottt.

The point is, M6s are dead meat against A8s with competent drivers, unless you are roll racing. In the video, Lutz drove both cars, and although a pro mod guy, he is certainly not your average forum racer.

The A8 has a nice gearing advantage in the first three gears while shifting far faster.

Without a real tune in the PCM, the computer will not allow enough TQ to hit the tires hard enough. The car bogs....every....single....time. Even with the ProCharger it does the same, because ProCharger's tune doesn't touch TQ management. Give me a few weeks to get with my tuner and out to the track with him and I should easily have some 1.6x maybe 1.5x 60' times with the slicks.

You won't benefit by going to a 4.30 rear unless you have a set of tires or slicks that will hold the extra torque you going to gain because of the gear ratio change. So, its probably still not going to happen. That 12.10 on the fast list it because he is a good driver at the track and can launch the car much better then the average gear banger.

So the A8s ARE faster. But the M6 guys with the "man" pedal are having more fun. ![]() Still hoping for gears for the SS. And still trying to figure out where to get an analog signal for my shift light.

The best stock M6 60' was 1.917 and the best stock A8 was 1.757. So the 60' difference is .16 which roughly equates to .32 ET difference. The difference in the ET 12.101 to 11.905 so if we subtract the .32 we get 11.781 for the M6. So with the same 60' the M6 is theoretically faster. And on the bolton list there is a stock M6 that ran 11.967 with only better street tires (not DRs)and a 1.872 60'. My opinion, if I didn't just confuse myself , is the M6 is the faster car but cannot equal the A8 launch and will pass the A8, it just needs more room. And the M6 is clearly over geared. The M6 dynos 30-+ rwhp on average more on the same dyno as the A8.So to me it all makes sense in an Internet sort of way.

I've been at the track same day with an m6 with almost identical mods to me. I was trapping 6 mph more on average. The gearing and shift speed makes up for the roughly ~15 rwhp difference and then some (your 30 guess is a bit generous) |

I'll take that roll off with any equally modded Camaro M6 from any speed you want.

I need to spend some more money, (i.e. Ported TB, ported intake, and skinnies for the front) but I'd take that bet once I get my junk tuned. Lol. We coulda give it a street run if we had the chance in the Tour. Lol

That would have been cool. My car ran like shit in stl. Tried a new tune but could only run 11.03 at 125. Slow by my standards. You'll get yours right one of these days when you get it all done. I ran with Mike from 90 to 145 mph roll, We were side by side, then he changed his tune for stl and I changed mine and he ran away and hid. I put my old tune back in and of course it rained. Are you going to the Camaro Fest? Would love to see some good weather at the fest but don't think that will happen in July in Kentucky. Someday we can roll on somewhere.
