My take is that this advice applies to the drag strip where you are willing to add all the supporting mods for the suspension, axles and using drag radials/slicks. Adding the gear ratio to all that would give you the torque multiplier needed to be on par with the A8's first gear so that those 1.6 -1.7 60 foot times could be had. Low 60 foot times are the key to getting the M6 to run the same ETs as the A8. For street driving all that gear ratio would do for your set up is make first gear even more useless with a hard launch unless you are willing to run slicks on the street and do pavement prep like those crazy Street Outlaw guys do.

Yes, it would be pricey and dicey to due with the eLSD diff on the 1LE.

Ahh.. Thanks man. That makes sense.

Loooong time drag race here. I'm with ultra. A 5000k clutch drop with sticky tires. And the balls to do it is all the manual cars need. If you break it's just an excuse to install better/stronger parts.

The M6 SSes are over geared. The 5th gen 1LE, the CA6 SS M6, and the CA6 1LE all have the exact same transmission and gear ratios. But the 5th gen 1LE had a 3.91 gear. We have 3.73. What I think is the CA6 M6 SSes would benefit greatly with a 4.10. 4.30 might be a bit much. But either way there are no gears for our diffs. Maybe some day. Sigh.

As for you I would go with full time Nitto NT555R DRs. They stick and wear pretty well. Then you have a better chance to hold 1st gear on the street. But you can only get that tire in a 20x35x305, a little too tall. You do not need more gear. LOL

LOL. Thanks. Yeah after rereading I don't need a higher gear but was dreaming of a magic pill. Definitely going with better tires on the street but just might have to drive my truck when it rains. I know the stock ones on this get sketchy above 45 mph during the rain.

Auto generally rules the drag strip but I give the manual the edge from a roll.

Keep us posted! What are your planned suspension mods? Both trailing arms are a start. Anything more to help weight transfer? On the 5th gens some have tried removing the front sway bar, but then the driving was too spooky. Helium in the front tires?

Don't worry about comparing the 2. For drag racing, mod for mod, the auto will be the better platform. Fun factor and roll racing, the manual has it. I owned several manual cars but won't be going back after driving this A8.

All that's needed for an M6 to be faster than an auto is an owner that knows how to drive it. Yeah i said it

I was leaving at 6500 in my bolt on 2015 1LE running 11.56@120. If I can do it in a 5th gen surely it can be done in the better 6th.

Get a shorter diameter drag radial to even up the 60' compared to a stock A8 or bias ply slick, Ported Intake,TB, Cai and E85 and you will have a competitive car, Or try some of the bolt ons. E85 alone maybe good enough. Happy modding!!

Heavily modded. What would a 2015 1SS A6 do with those mods? Even better with a good tune. And with just bolt ons and tires, A8s are already in the 10's.
