Hello,

I have the GM bike rack on the Mighty HABU but asked the shop to cut off the 1.25 and weld on the 2 inch receiver hitch (so my Thule fit). It does draw some comments. At the time of modification, there were no wiring systems for it because of the fine gauge (22?) wiring for the LED taillights.

The stock mounting is awesome. There are videos on the internet that show how it is done such as this one.

Kindest,

Donner

I guess I'm in the minority here, but towing with a car has never crossed my mind.

Ironically, I had just come in the house from a long bike ride when I saw this thread.

I see that you have the factory hitch on an SS with NPP. When I ordered my 2017 SS coupe with NPP, I asked the dealer to install the factory hitch. They tried and said it would not fit on the SS unless they cut the rear diffuser. Did you have to cut yours?

Thanks

They did. I see from Donner's post that I am not the only 50 SS Vert with a bike hitch

For those who are interested I just got a quote for the GM hitch installed at my local dealership of $214. I have a Kuat bike rack (I found the "tray" setup extremely stable and easier to load unload my bike) I plan on using.

Sounds similar to my Thule. The other added benefit of the tray or platform type is that the bike sits lower, so you have better visibility out the back.

Damn lots of hate here. There are alot of people who want to Autox or Road race their cars and tow very small equipment trailors to and from the track with tires, fuel, jack, jack stands etc. If you set the trailor up right and dont overload the shit out of it I dont see a problem with towing 3-4 pounds trailer weight included to the track.

Not everyone can afford to have a dually and a trailor for their toys. I know the miata and S2000 guys have been doing this for years.

Agreed.....I am not worried one bit about my small 4x8 trailer with wheels, jack ,stands,ez-up, folding chair and a cooler.

Towing my car to the track is out of the question and i refuse to use up my sticky track tires just getting there and back home again

IMHO, the best way to enjoy the drive to the track, not just the time spent on the track
