Waited like a good boy. It wasn't easy. Took the car every evening just to put out miles on the car.

I bought mine about 200 miles away from home and rented a car to drive to get her. And I may have been about 20 miles in and then I needed to test her. At less then 3000k miles I threw a Whipple on her and have been blistering the tires ever since. I won't trample on others ideas but I like breaking in my cars quick and have never had any trouble with them. This however will be the first car that I forge the bottom end because I've got the boost bug.

Went over the RPM limit (not once the break-in speed limit) exactly 4 times, and yes I was really counting. Each time but one it was above 500 miles and by maybe 200-300 RPM, just enough to show some blue past the white hash mark for 4k on the HUD - kind of for the same reason that I go 5-10 over the legal speed limit: because you told me I couldn't! LOL. The remaining time was above 1000 miles and sort of an emergency situation, but not enough of one that I couldn't still be mindful that I was nearing 5k and realized it was time to slow the engine down. So, clearly not much of an emergency, really.

Maybe so, and to each their own, but I still have funny ideas about being the only owner now, at over 2100 miles. And memories of oil consumption with my 2010 LLT V6 that I traded in for this one after NOT being as cautious with the break in. Plus, it's my first V8, so maybe I was breaking MYSELF in to having this much power as much as anything!

And yet, it's still in the manual as being required. I for one was willing to give the engineers and mechanics who contributed to writing it the benefit of the doubt, as they know more about the vehicle and its power train than you or I.

Fixed.

I'm trying to stick with the <4k RPM and <80mph but I've slipped a few times on the RPM. It just sounds so good. Just passed 500 miles.

After the 1,500 miles, my car has hit redline pretty much everyday.

The whole point is to change the oil before doing a lot of WOT. Get any loose metal shavings out before they can do damage. I got somewhere around 1,400 plus, changed oil, let 'er rip.

Nope, not required. RECOMMENDED. Big difference

Really just "saving it" for me. 1500m break-in is really no big deal for a car I hope to get 100k+ miles out of before I have to do major work. Even if it only gives me a 5% chance of better longevity, well worth it IMHO.
