My point was, if there was a ZL1 with no A/C and hoses and fittings, etc. it would obviously be lighter in the front also. I am sure that is coming. Then it will be a true comparison when the replacement for the Z28 comes out.
I mean Chevy already has the "Z28 type" motor, I am sure when it does come, it will be with even more power.

+1. Also, why would I pay when I can see it for free later. It is the same thing paying for cable TV. I refuse to pay for TV.

Sound: I'd definitely agree. That 5.2 FPC sounds amazing, especially compared to a S/C motor.
Feel: Well I'm guessing here ride quality was not a factor. So a purpose built track variant vs what is more of a GT cruiser. So not surprising there. Specialness: Mostly motor here, but that specialness comes at a price. I'm sure there is at least a $20K difference with ADM. That's a lot of money for a subjective category that a average person on the street won't appreciate it. Even more so for a car that's true home is on the track, and spends most of its time in the garage. So what this really tells us is that a GT cruiser that is at home on the strip, track, and around town is faster than the best handling Mustang to date. A Mustang which is not very good at the strip or around town because it was built solely to beat other track focused cars. So you can pay more for specialness, the 5.2 and be slower (albeit a small gap), or pay less, have a better car for actually driving and be faster on the track.

I watched the whole thing again and I think they were heavily biased towards the GT350R, the better comparison would be with ZL1-1LE which like the R has stiffer ride and is no-compromise track car.
As set up currently the ZL1 competes with the GT350 and trounces it; the ZL1 has massive torque and though engine doesn't sound as sexy, has a pretty basa$$ sound of its own and great power delivery making it all around the better car for every day performance including daily driving. They are in the entertainment business and I think they both were talking out of the side of their mouth and this review was not consistent with their earlier effusive review of the ZL1 from a couple of months ago. Both great cars, the ZL1 gives effortless amazing performance all around in relative comfort ... |

For every GT350R I have run across before and after I bought my GT350 were $30k ADM and still that way. I dislike when I see the price comparison, "For only $69,999, you can get a GT350R". BS. Get you head out of the sand. Plus the motor and car has had so many troubles, I would not want it.

Saw it, lots of subjective opinions, wish they did more tests. However, the numbers did all the talking.

I don't think they will at this point. The GT350R posted the same time as the SS 1LE in this video. What an accomplishment by the SS 1LE! Most of us were wondering how the SS 1LE would do against the non-R, but now that it tied the R, we all know the outcome against the non-R.

what track did they do the test on? I am surprised the gap wasn't bigger. I was expecting the ZL1 to really out run the 350R.
