I have (had) a paying subscription that as if this morning requires me to resubscribe for $5.99 per month. F-that. Such a shit

I bought a year subscription in Sept for $49.99 that they no longer honor

GT350R won because of sound, feel, and specialness...

Despite massive power advantage ZL1 was only .39 sec faster around willow springs...

In drag, ZL1 much faster by 1/2 mi

Also Randy hinted SS-1LE sweeter handling than ZL1 which was also my impression though only test drove the former, knew it as soon as I got into my ZL1 on delivery ...

So, then it was based on opinion, not facts. Typical Mustang fanboy mentality. But the ZL1 doesn't sound like it was much faster. Maybe have another driver run both. It really takes 3 times at a minimum of something to get a pattern.

Since the results have been given, I might share a couple more details. This was a M6 vs M6 matchup.

The ZL1 won the drag race pretty easily. GT350R got the early jump, but ZL1 got the lead quickly after that.

They also did a sound test and ZL1 got about 104.6 dB and GT350R got about 110.4 dB.

Just as I suspected, the Motortrend staff continued to have really high praise on GT350R when they did the drive in portion. And that the GT350R has a layer of magic to it. Even made some comparisons of the sound of vehicle being better than Porsche GT3. And that at Laguna Seca it was faster than a Ferrari Italia 458. After such comments like that, they said that Camaro better be the best Camaro ever.

When they jump into the White ZL1, first thing they mention is they gave the wrong color. Instead of actually giving initial feel of the car like GT350R. Then proceeded again jokingly asking why they do not have ZL1 1LE. Then they mention about the LT4 being bottled up and being a silent car compared to shelby and missing that anger. Third that GT350R had better shifter. Fourth, that compared to GT350R, ZL1 felt 1000lbs heavier when actually it is only 200lbs heavier. Fifth, that GT350R had a better turn in. Sixth, ZL1 was a more calmer and relaxed car. Seventh, that placement of heavy LT4 and supercharger on the front of ZL1 is worst place to put that extra weight.

Silly comments like that are a little annoying. They had little good to say about ZL1.

During the drive with Randy in Zl1, they mentioned ZL1 drove like a luxury car on track. It was smooth, calm, and controlled. Randy did like the 650lbs of torque that the ZL1 had. Furthermore, they all kind of agreed that LT4 and supercharger placed too much weight at front and they could feel it. Jonny did mention SS 1LE being a better handling car as well and ZL1 was NOT best handling Camaro ever.

At the race, the M6 ZL1 got 1:27.90 vs GT350R got 1:28.29

After the race, Randy was asked how the GT350R could keep up despite massive hp and torque difference. He noted that GT350R being a little more agile and stiffer. He also felt GT350R was a more balanced car and hides it weight really well. And that GT350R was more of a sports car and ZL1 was more of a muscle car

I kind of feel that they were going for a ZL1 1LE vs GT350R later this summer. If ZL1 was given the win, then there would no ZL1 1LE vs GT 350R.

Was the GT350R stripped down? Or did it have air conditioning and back seat, etc?

The type and length of a given track will have more or less to do with a cars advantage or disadvantage, tight technical tracks reward nimbleness where as a larger track with fast sweepers would benefit from higher horsepower.

We all know that the ZL1 is not the replacement for the light weight almighty track focused Camaro Z/28 but it is the best no compromise 4 passenger sports car their is from America.

I agree that this h2h made little sense in itself other than to keep us on the hook for the lastest video of our favorite sports car.

Remember that we have yet to see an actual h2h of the SS 1LE versus the regular GT350. Why is this? Is it Ford or is it Motor Trend? But you can bet your lunch money that we will see a ZL1 1LE versus the GT350R in a couple of months time frame. Gotta sell more subscribers on the channel and push more magazines.
