I do feel for the Q mile fellas. That said, you have to realize this is the most capable domestic track car next to the ACR. Yeah, I did not include the C7 in there, by design. sorry, I've never been passed by one. Not stock, not modified.

I don't understand that line of thinking. Why would you not include the C7 "by design"? And how is the ZL1 more of a "capable domestic track car" than, say, a GT350R or track pack, on the track?

Fanboys doing fanboy things. The GT350R is basically a custom built car it's so limited. Ford should call it GT350 Limited. Beyond that it's about to lose a major Motortrend Head to Head to the ZL1.

Yes they are, I have one. Mine wouldn't do better than a 1.65 60' out here in AZ either when stock. What your 5th gen ZL1 did or didn't do isn't applicable for a multitude of reasons that I think you can figure out.

No matter how you slice it, one car has to be faster and the other has to be slower. I've seen Hellcats rated anywhere from a 10.6 to a 12.1 in the quarter mile depending on the driver, track, track conditions, weather, and the fact that some Hellcats will just be faster than other Hellcats. If you look at the best times of the Hellcat in ideal situations and then compare it to the avreage times of the ZL1 then you will be disappointed in the ZL1. But in all reality, these cars are closer than you think. Off the showroom flor and straight to the track with absolutely no modifications whatsoever (no lightening, no lowered tire pressures, no tweaking of any sort), these cars will be neck and neck in the quarter mile with maybe a slight advantage to the Hellcat. Start putting DRs and this and that and it is literally anyone's game. So no, I'm not diasppointed. I do love the Hellcat BTW.
Also you have to remember that cars like the Hellcat and GT500 seem to be more built for straight line performance. Cars like the ZL1 are meant more for a variety of purposes. Kinda like a runner. A runner who does everything well might not be faster than someone who mainly sprints. But all in all, both are fantastic cars. |

I don't think there's a disappointment on a Camaro which Excell better than many exotic euro and Japanese sport cars costing double or triple its price, even perfoming better than most of his big brother Corvette models and with a chassis and suspension that feels safer to the ground compared to his big brother Z06.
With great numbers at the track or 1/4 mile and a joy for spirited driving. What else could you ask . ZL1s are great cars. Thanks GM.
