2017 LT4 Headers, Worth the performance gain??
We have seen a few folks add headers with very little performance gain, most believe it's due to the new designed exhaust manifold flowing much better than the previous version.
I was thinking about doing the pulley swap, headers, CAI, CAT back exhaust & tune but, after seeing some of the results it seems the header money would be better spent else where, unless you plan to swap the blower or cam. Post your thoughts.

Not intending to be rude, but doesn't seem like you put your mod list together with an objective in mind, other than to mod the car. Which is fine too. That's still fun as long as you're not losing power or performance for no reason other than modding.

The headers will shine when a tune and supercharger pulley is installed.

This thread showed a full Kooks exhaust system only net +14 rwhp/tq. So, for me personally? I am surprised to say "no", I don't think they're going to be worth it on this car/engine. The LT4 in the ZL1 comes with a "shorty" Tri-Y exhaust manifold setup. Seems to be pretty darn efficient! |

No offence taken, just trying to see what everyone thoughts were on the header no header situation before i took the plunge.

Hopefully we will see a comparision soon. I'm currently leaning toward the headers aren't cost effective for moderate mods.

Well
No doubt a full exhaust and headers is only worth 10-20 WHP on stock ZL1s (Both gens), but it will gain a lot more with a tune + more boost. So let's say you do Intake, Pulley, and tune. You picked up 50 WHP. Now, the headers may add 30-40 RWHP now, so yes, IMO headers are always worth it and always a great base mod to grow with the car. Now if you're not adding boost then yeah the $1200-$1500 may not be as well spent, however it's never going to be a waste. Plus the car will sound a helluva lot better

I would do lower pulley, CAI, catch can, plugs and 160* thermostat as the base mods...Headers would come later if you can stand the noise...A pulley will make that SC whine like you stole it...

Do you think changing the X-pipe would be worthwhile?

Something to consider! Where is everyone buying E85? I usually get my gas from Costco because it's Top Tier fuel but they don't carry E85 at least not where I live.

Lingenfelter basically told me headers were a waste of money on the pulley tune mod.
