My impressions on the Injen EVO7300

I installed the injen EVO 7300 about 2-3 weeks back, and thought I would give you all my thoughts on it...

Fit and finish, I found to be excellent. Looks great, and fits great. I was able to install it in less than 30 minutes. No issues installing, and no modifications needed to make it work.

Performance wise, my butt dyno tells me that the mid range power is greatly increased. Immediately noticeable gain. However, I don't feel much difference down low, and I do not feel much if any top end gain... It's probably there, but negligible to feel as the engine still feels like it lays over on the top end, similar to stock, but perhaps not as much.

Fuel economy... It may just be coincidence, but I think I have noticed improved fuel economy... The previous 4 tanks of fuel prior to the EVO7300 being installed were 21.3-21.4 avg according to the dash, the following two tanks after being installed, were 22.9-23.0... I have done nothing differently to try and up the numbers, and I drive the same routes every day... This could be a nice bonus.

The "sound" that so many are looking for (not me, I just want to go faster, not into the "sounds"), is not there. Sounds very similar to stock, there is a slight difference, but not very noticeable. Not even worth taking a video of IMO. Granted, I am running the closed airbox it came with, I see some have taken it off, but I have no plans of that. If you're all about sound, this is not the intake for you.

Overall, I feel pretty happy with the performance (butt dyno) gain for the amount of $ spend. The gain in the midrange is great! Pulls hard! I'd like some more oomph down low, but it's kind of hard to ask that out of the engine when its out of the boost.

If anyone is on the fence about this one, I'd say you won't be disappointed... That is, unless you're looking for sound, over power improvements.

I have the same intake and had pretty much the exact same results I'm very happy with it and as far as the sound I noticed a huge increase with the windows down and radio off lol but if the windows are up and radio bumping I hardly hear it....

Jason,

Totally agree on all fronts. Have had mine for about 1800-2000 miles now and I really love it. I may move on to try Mishimoto's depending on gains. The sound is alright but I honestly didn't have the stock CAI in long enough to really hear what it sounded like haha. I like the way it looks in the engine bay, like Paris, it looks like it means business

TUNE ?

Wasn't this a non-event for HP/TQ without a tune ?

Its the Intake I have, but no tune - curious if I'm just back to stock or not. As is the only mod I'll do, didn't know if wanted to spend the Stage 1 ?

Thanks !

If I have it long enough, I do plan to do a before/after dyno test. But I go through cold air intakes like a change my socks. I tried out something like 10 intakes on my old 2010 SS, and I don't imagine I won't at least try every avaiable CAI for the 2.0 (with the exception of the RPM motorsports one)... So that said, if you'd like a deal on a slightly used EVO7300, shoot me a pm... Maybe I'll sell it to you so I can move onto the next one.

CAI will help the airflow. Keep the IM temps a little lower etc. Nothing to be had on HP/TQ gains really.

Well, for me it's a love ate relationship with my intake the evo7300. I don't know if it's in my mind but at close to 3000 rpm to may be about 5000 rpm. It feels more powerfull . The best 0 to 100 I've done with it on was 13.8 then 14.0 then again 13.8 a few months later. Best 0to 60 was 5.4 , 5.5, 5.6. Now that I added a catless downpipe with MagnaFlow glasspack mufflers. My best 0to100 was 13.4sec , 13.8sec and 13.8sec the last time. My car definitely feels faster with the evo7300 and the downpipe. I don't think the mufflers didn't anything other than cleaned up the sound tremendously from my cat less DP and muffler delete I had before putting the mufflers on. My only issue with the intake is with the window down you can earn a small difference in the turbo sound... but as soon as I remove the box it's sounds sooooo beautifully. For a while I drove constantly with the box off. But now I just deal with it on since it defeats the purpose of that intake with the box off

+1 no hope, there's some marketing trickery going on with those numbers for sure...

I could see those numbers *maybe* IF combined with a tune...

Those numbers are pure BS and are there to sell units. No CAI is going to net you that kind of power even at the crank much less the wheels without a tune and the tune gains won't have much to do with the intake. I'm a staunch supporter of Aftermarket CAIs but I don't ever take the numbers they claim seriously. Then take into account when they dyno these products they are never fully hitting the rev limit on the test cars for safety reasons so the numbers are even more fake.

Thanks for the candid responses; Its what I always thought, yet... Thoughts were stock airbox restrictions (for noise too) might make it somewhat believable.

Anybody have the RPM Motorsports tune ? Thinking about that... TQ Mgmt and all.

Their tune alone will bump you up 25hp and 30TQ and having seen Evilbee's and Rick's numbers which are above that with their mods, I don't doubt it. Their tuner is on our forum quite a bit. I'm sure he will answer questions for you.

Thanks !
I have an email into them, but not heard back. Hopefully, he will respond or I'll find him.
Probably want the version, where I can change back to stock, in case of a service visit...
