I agree on the covers... it just screams LT to me.

I'd do the powder coating and try and find the ZL1 decals somewhere. It's early now and I'm sure aftermarket will take care of this one.

Paint em and get the decals on eBay. I think calipers should always have a factory color option. The Corvettes get it. But the ZL1 silver doesn't look bad at all. My favourite calliper color ever was the C6 ZR1. That blue was gorgeous.

Those came out great. Was that the G2 kit? Wondering how that compares to the spray options.

No! Even better. Go to AutoZone and buy the highest heat tolerant VHT paint spray they sell. Engine paint. Buy 2 cans of grey primer. 2 cans of red or whatever color you want, and 1 can of clear coat. They have flames on the can, high heat stuff.

1. Remove your calipers (but it can be done without doing so but it's best if you do), sand/scuff/prep

2. Coating schedule is as follows: first scratch coat of primer, super light just to get tack. Dry. Second coat of primer, prime evenly and completely. Dry. Go to sleep and wake up the next morning - apply 2 coats of red evenly and completely (or 3 if you like) - Dry for 24 hours at least.

3. Apply decals from eBay, align and measure etc.

4. Clearcoat - spray with two layers of clear coat, waiting about 30 - 45 minutes between coatings.

5. Let sit in your garage for about 48 hours. Don't wash your car for two weeks.

I had tried the brush on kit and it looked freakkn horrible. Use the spray!

I too have done the vht and the g2 and got equal results with both. Based on the fact that I can do much less tape prep, I'd choose the g2 again. No brush strokes, done right, it looks perfect. The trick is using a pro brush and not the crappy supplied brush.

I used the VHT high temp also. I sprayed the calipers with brake cleaner and wiped them down, masked the bleeder nipples, and sprayed about 3 coats on the caliper and rotor. No taping involved. The pads clear the wiped area of the caliper and the rotors and calipers match.

You may want to make the rotors for a color like red, but for black or silver, I don't see a need. The stock rotors tend to get an ashy look to them.

Personally, I always think that the paint looks like crap in the long run. Sure, you can "touch" it up, but it's a constant battle. If your going to do it, just get them powdercoated and be done with it. If you have a ZL1, you have the cash to powdercoat--absolutely no covers or paint!
