You will always have the startup growl as the V4 mode only kicks in when cruising. You do not need the Range AFM for the start up. Also only the A8 has the AFM on the SS models. The M6 models the AFM is non-functional.
It is well worth it!

It turns out there is a service bulletin for the 2017's with the NPP exhaust. Something about re-seating the ceramic pins and using a loc-tite epoxy to secure. It's being done on my car this morning. Should stop the rattle. Will post an update after i get the car back.

Man...this car is AMAZING!
So... did the service bulletin solve the rattle......!!??

Yes it is worth the extra money. Pull the fuse and set the exhaust sound to track mode which sounds real good for a factory type exhaust. Mine has the valve rattle but it doesn't bother me as it stops when the engine warms up. But by all means get the NNP exhaust.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm so glad I bought my 2016 Camaro ss with the npp exhaust. It took me 5 or 6 months before I realized how good it sounds. I let my wife drive it to the store and was very surprised at the sound from the outside. My 5th Gen has headers with SLP Loudmouth, it sounds amazing but the drone is a little much. NPP is worth every penny!

I've had NPP on my last 4 cars (3 vettes, and now this 1LE). It's a no brainer to do even if you go aftermarket since there are many NPP controlled aftermarket exhausts. I couldn't agree with you more!

Now it's time for some long tubes on this thing...

Saabkyle04 on YouTube has a much better video explaining and showing off the npp exhaust.

I am 52 and was somewhat on the fence about ordering this option. My wife thought it sounded great and I liked the quad tips. My hesitation stemmed from the reality that $895 = zero performance gain; you are buying looks and noise only. Now that I have the car, time and again I get the same reaction when anyone sees it for the first time (6-60 yrs old, same reaction):
Step 1) general compliments on the overall style and appearance of the car
Step 2) the first "wow, cool!" when they see I got the manual transmission
Step 3) "that's f*king awesome!" when they hear it start up
Call it the icing on the cake or whatever, but the sound just seems to fit the car and provokes a visceral reaction in everyone. Then you can turn it down while cruising to better enjoy the stereo, if that's your pleasure.
I recommend this without hesitation.
