I used the ACDelco 88862624 both times, That's what my owners manual said to use. I changed it myself because I didn't trust the dealer to do it nor did I want to sit there for hours for a job that takes less then 15 minutes LOL!

Debating whether to drive it a couple of more times to see if it dissipates, since I have read that some people have noticed it takes a couple of drives for the groaning to go away... or I may add some more of the limited slip friction modifier (I used half of the delco additive bottle). Edit: haven't driven the car since I posted until today. no groan even though the weather is cold. not quite sure what to make of it. probably going to give it a few more drives. I just found GM's procedure for this noise correction - you're gonna love it! Quote:
It should be made clear that there are 2 issues being addressed: 1. LSD clutches grab on corners when cold - Better fluid is the only hope. Insane fluid change procedure may or may not be required. 2. Ring and pinion gear whine going straight or on turns - may be cured with better fluid, or may require full diff set-up. There's talk of the Mexican diffs not being set up properly. Too much Corona... ![]() May need full set up and adjustment including backlash adjustment.

Interesting that they call for dumping the fluid twice. Not sure what to make of that...Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I'm going to add a bit more friction modifier to my blend since I only half dosed it for my first try. I believe that will solve my issue. If it doesn't, I am going to dump it and try a different friction modifier. And if that still doesn't work, I am going to try out a pre-blended (or same branded at least) gear oil and lsd additive on the remote chance that there is some weird interaction between the lsd additive and the untreated oil. Another option is to try different weight oils than the oem spec, like a straight 90 weight or something like a 75/140... Anyway, I am going to experiment with 1 thing at a time.
I still strongly feel that this issue is fluid related. |

Yes, interesting.
Good chance the cops will see you in the Home Depot parking lot going around in circles 5 times, fig eight 5 times, and take us to the funny farm. GM recommended this procedure for 5th gens too. May want to check their posts (camaro5.com) on success rate. It's about getting contaminants out of the housing, but more importantly to get fresh fluid into the friction material by heating it up, and "opening their pores" |

Well the 3rd time must be.... I'm closing in on 5k miles and nearly 1k miles since the last fluid change, with 45 degree temps the last couple morning's. The only thing that has a groan are my crumb snatchers (aka kids) getting up for school. All Bullsh@t aside, I hope this is the last time I have too deal with the this situation.

Update, I did have mine changed by the dealer even though they could not replicate it. It still makes noise the first couple of turns. I'm just going to keep driving it unless it gets a lot worse.

My Dealers bull dung
I took my 2016 Camaro 2ss in for the groan. They said they would change the fluid.
When I picked it up the service guy said the tech. told him it was coming from my Brembo brakes. I told him I had Brembo when I bought the car and didn't have any problem until the last 2000 miles. Also Brembo brakes will not cause the rear diff. to slip under acceleration. Then he told me that I owed $171 for the fluid change. I told him everyone on the Camaro6 forum were having their fluid changed under warranty. Then he said he would take care of it. We will see. I must have STIPID printed on my forehead!

My dealer told me that they now think the noise is coming from the tires when they are cold... I called Bull Shit.
