I agree, drive the hell out of it and let it explode and that goes for any other weak links in the drivetrain, then maybe after replacing so many parts they will issue a recall and do the right thing.

Wrong fluid from assembly line and/or service could absolutely be the cause.

Make sure the correct fluid is used.

Document that for your BBB case.

3 Diffs total

ps - 88862624 is NOT a API GL-5. It does NOT meet required specs. Case closed.
It's interesting because I've said it from day one about the fluid and was told no. I would advise everyone with continued problems to file with BBB auto line. This is listed in your owners manual. Think about the loss of value alone when you go to sell the car and CarFax shows your vehicle in the shop continuously.

Not sure if this will help you or not...
Got my 2016 2SS end of April and had the groan. Drove it all summer long (12,000 miles including a ride from Mass to Minnesota and back). I even took it to the track once. I was embarrassed by the noise but it didn't cause any other problems. I bought the car outright and maybe that is why the Dealer treated me differently. However, I will say, the dealer in town told me they did not want to work on the car. I had to drive 60 miles to get a good dealer. They tried once to change fluid and then swapped out the diff and I did not have any further problems. Drove it many cold morning after that (car was put away after another 200 miles or so).

I had my diff replaced back in October. The noise is back already. I have less than 11,0000 miles on the car. It's so frustrating going back and forth with the dealer.

Interesting because the TSB originally called to swap to 88862624 from the original fluid. Haha looks like they know exactly how to fix this problem. I'm putting on a BMR bushing lockout kit this weekend as I think more of the issue is in rubber bushing instead of at least a polymer bushing. I'll add it to my bill I already have to present GM at my arbitration hearing.

FWIW, my car was in for a recall (2016) and had them check out my diff. They told me the noise was normal. Of course it isn't. I'm dumping the fluid and doing my own thing anyway so I didn't really care if they swapped the fluid one way or the other...just wanted the issue recorded in the dealership records.

Ok folks, I just drained the OEM fluid at about 3200 miles. My car had a mild case of the groaning that started at around 2750 miles. I put in half a container of the delco limited slip additive. I was under the impression that the full container was the proper dosage but my diff is not binding with half the dosage (now I kinda wish I tried 1/4 of the container).

Anyway, I am running Mobil Delvac 75w90 gear oil. Note that Delvac is a SUBSTANTIALLY better gear oil than regular Mobil 1 and approved for many of the super long oil change intervals in the commercial trucking industry. I will report back periodically with how the new fluid is doing for me.

How much additive does it specifically call for?

I believe you are supposed to use the full additive bottle (it's a small bottle).

However, aside from what is normally called for, it is generally advised to use the least amount possible, adding a little at a time until there is no more binding. There are 2 reasons for this. The main reason is because it reduces the locking functionality of the diff, which is not desirable so long as it isn't binding. The second reason is that it alters the properties of the gear oil itself, which is something that you don't want to be doing more than necessary.

Just a update after doing my second flush about 3weeks ago, the cold weather has been with us in NY the past 2 weeks and the groan has not come back yet.
