You won't have to worry about a downshift with throttle input unless you want it. Now I do not have a procharged 6th gen, I am actually working on a Maggie install on mine so I am only speaking of my experience with my 4th gen which was a manual.

Adding the power for me changed how I used the car for example if your cruising along @ 70 in 6th gear and you need to pass someone moving slower there won't be a need to downshift because your car will have enough power. I loved I never needed to downshift on the highway, Your 5th gear with the procharger will feel like your 4th gear at stock power levels while cruising, 4th gear will feel like 3rd gear and so on.. So you shouldn't have any problems being able to determine how much power you need preparing yourself to go around someone.

I will admit my TCS saved my ass a few times because I laid into the throttle too much just messing around on the street but that was usually in 1st & 2nd gear once you get adjusted to the new power levels of your car you will be able to determine when you need to use WOT vs 50% to get out in traffic or around someone. If your the type to go WOT every chance you get then your going to have problems but if your RESPONSIBLE and RESPECT the power levels you have you will be fine.
Thanks for the information on that, I'm looking forward to the power haha. I am curious though, why are you going with a PD style charger this time around and not another centrifugal style?

Going fast with a high powered car is more of a restraint and foreseeing exercise than that of a mash on the pedal one.

You can spin the wheels with a stock SS as much as it is also possible to move very fast with a very brute high torque one, it is up to your skill. Practice makes better but not everyone is up for it.

Going faster is easier and safer with a 4WD car, but not as much fun and challenging.

Honestly I don't know how many more builds I have left in me and I wanted to try something different with this car.

One mistake I made with the 4th gen was running a large blower on the street. The F1 blowers move a lot of air up top but down low there soft. Smaller P & D series blowers won't have that same problem.

Low speed traction issues are the only thing I am noticing currently with my setup (on stock wheel/tires) but traction up top has been fine no oh shit moments yet .... but that is what the drag radials are for .

Otherwise normal drive-ability has been almost unchanged from stock unless the car does an aggressive downshift or I am at 1/2 throttle or more.

Looking into a new Wheel/Tire setup for the street like 20X10/20X11 with 285/305 tire setup ... that should be more than fine at this power level (even though I won't be at this level for long lol).

As far as the maintenance questions ... I have owned both PD and Centri setups now and neither has been bad or a pain from that stand point. I would have / have had no issues taking one of my supercharged rides on long road trips before without worry.

I'm glad to hear that. This has been the most helpful thread I've read yet. Hearing from you guys who have actually done it and can give a real person perspective has helped a lot. Im going with a pro-charger for sure. I won't need a D1, so I'll, probably just go P1 with the bigger intake and race blow off.

Lol I can understand that! I now have kids and a family that consume most of my free time so it's harder to find time to do wrenching.

They don't need anything until 100k. That's an advantage of those. The oil system is self contained and doesn't need changed for a long time lol
