I got mine installed over the weekend:
Install was quick and simple could easily be done in 30-45min. I took my time and it was installed over the course of one beer (approx. an hour or so). Pretty happy with the initial results. Moderate increase in power and throttle response, and got exactly what I was expecting. Good deep intake roar under load that adds to the rumble of the exhaust note. Unfortunately, I can also clearly hear that 2500rpm whistle clear as day, sooo I guess I'm going to need to look up porting tb/im. For anybody who's worried about CEL or anything like that, there isn't anything like that happening in the first 150miles or so that its been driven. For the advertised 21+ whp gain it really can't be beat for the $300 it cost considering drivetrain loss you're talking about a ~360hp v6. I would certainly consider this a "must have mod" For me the choice was between this or the GMPP. The GMPP is attractive because of the tune and its a GMPP. Ultimately it was my selfish need of not waiting and my wallet that made the choice since I knew I wouldn't get the GMPP without the tune/install so total was $500+ vs the $300 for K&N for similar power gains... In the end I decided that I would probably get some sort of tune (trifecta, or diablosport whenever they come around) and bit the bullet on the K&N. My experience with this purchase/part would be that if you're planning on getting a tune somewhere just pull the trigger on this massively cost effective mod. If you're reluctant because you want the piece of mind that comes with GMPP and probably wont be tuning anytime soon because of warranty etc. just spend the extra $$ and do the GMPP.... Its a great mod and I'm happy I did it. |

Oh NO!!! I'm sorry to unleash that on you. Its not really that noticeable in the cabin with the windows up. I have a convertible so I immediately heard it driving around the neighborhood, and now Its all I hear with the windows/top down.
I hear porting the TB/Intake clears it up some... thus begins a new obsession |

thanks for the review, Just pulled the trigger on the typhoon edition. Should be here next week. Was going to get quicker shipping, but looked at the weather it's supposed to be low 30's this weekend in ohio, so figured no point in paying for faster shipping when it's gonna be that cold out.
When installed, I'll have this in combination with the ported throttle body, hope it works out well. |

Just received the package and took some pics. I'm a "noob" this would be my first ever cold air intake that I've ever owned, or now that I think about it, it is the first I've ever seen. I thought from the pics on the website the build quality looked low, but I was pleasantly surprised. The housing is metal (I'm an idiot thought it was some type of plastic like material. The filter is legit. I'm glad I "took a chance" with this one over the GM. Can't wait to install it, unfortunately it is cold out, so I want to wait until it gets up into the 50s, which won't be until this weekend.

Installation day
Simple install However the instructions could have used better pictures And an explanation of which hardwhere was to be use at each point. And overall some of the kit could have been sub assembled. First drive was short It's just above freezing here Ok So very disappointed with sound I was thinking there would be an increase in sound however the sound tube delete Has caused the popping at gear change to almost disappear. No improvement on sound if anything less sound. As for power I haven't driven the car much lately and can't say Ether way. I put an k&n in my 15 v6 camaro and loved it. As it stands right now in my 16 I'm thinking of removing it |
