Here's the kicker though...if you want it, just wait to buy it. Everyone was talking about how the A10 was gonna run circles around the m6, but I'm not seeing too many people complaining that Chevy isn't making the A10 an option on this. All I'm hearing is 'It sucks that I don't even have my car yet, and I've already been knocked off the zl1 pedestal'. Folks, purchase and enjoy the hell outta whatever car you want and don't let that car define you. But what do I know. I'm just the owner of a lowly m6 standard zl1....clearly I'm at the bottom of the zl1 hierarchy. |

I see no issues with the announcement. the ZL1 is the 50th anniversary edition, the 2018 is not. I have my A10 ZL1 on order in Garnet Red and I cannot wait until it gets here, I might opt for some of the extra aero stuff latter on, but I'm sure there will be more to come from the big 3, especially with the announcement of the new Demon. My objective is to have my 2017 as a daily driver, running consistently in the high 9's with nothing more than a few bolt-ons and maybe DR's.

GM does a much better job with their trucks. Just to give you an example. In 2014 I ordered a new GMC Sierra 1500 4WD SLT with a 6.2 and the max trailering package (top of the line Sierra 1500 aside from the Denali package which was only like $1,500 more, but the max trailering I wanted isn't offered with the Denali package). I paid right at $50K for this truck. 3 years and 27,000 miles later it books for almost $38K. My Camaro depreciated more in 8 months with 3K miles than this truck has to date. I get that a sports car depreciates more than a truck, but in the Camaro's case incremental model year improvements (instead of consolidating changes into major updates), massive incentives, refusal to offer infotainment software updates, etc.. completely kills any resell value. I don't mind paying a premium to keep new vehicles, but I feel like GM is severely devaluing these cars with unnecessary actions. (I still like their products. Their market tactics are just poor IMO.) Last edited by travislambert; 02-25-2017 at 10:20 PM. |

We could be saying "Oh Shit" Ford just came out with a track monster...
...instead it's one of our own.

And that's the issue the OP and myself have with this announcement -- GM essentially devalued our cars earlier than expected. I, at least, got 3 months of ownership. The OP hasn't even received his car. We lost value so GM could pound their chest at Daytona and tell everyone they can make a big, bad ass Camaro track car. Which, by the way, has no official pricing and won't be available for at least another 6 months maybe longer. Like the OP said, Chevy's marketing tactics suck.

How is this any different than a Z06 and a Z06/7 or a GS and a GS/Z07?
It's a track option for the ZL1. FYI, it will be somewhat ruff as a DD.

Like I said before, I wouldn't be upset if Chevy would have announced the ZL1 1LE closer to the '18 MY production cycle. Doing it now without pricing information or an availability date was, in my opinion, a disservice to existing ZL1 owners and those waiting on delivery of their car.

I guarantee you I would. I still had to think about this one, but I'm happy that I actually had a choice and will definitely stick with the A10. Just a piece of mind I have that some of the M6 guys do not.

Guys....
This new ZL1 + 1LE is a hard core track only car. It's not meant for the for the average ZL1 buyer. If you track your car more than 6 times a year then get this new version. Otherwise stick to the regular ZL1 and you'll be much happier with the ride quality. ![]() Chill out. I bet 99% of the people bitching in this tread will never even take their regular ZL1's to the track....
