I'll give you that not everyone will want the ZL1 1LE, but the ZL1 1LE is going to be a lot more daily driver friendly than the Z/28. I don't see it's purpose as being "different". The regular ZL1 is designed for the track with creature comforts just as the ZL1 1LE is designed for the track with creature comforts. If the ZL1 1LE was only designed for the track without creature comforts, then I would agree. I see their purpose as being the basically the same which is why I feel the ZL1 1LE will devalue the regular ZL1.

I was planning on doing a lease since we have no idea what the car will be worth, I know myself pretty good and I won't keep it, my state won't require me to pay sales tax or personal property since we don't "own" it. I can take my payments x 48 months and I know just what I'll loose.

Anyway the ride will probably be much firmer than MRC. Not sure why they left in the power heated/cooled seats and Bose audio, maybe it is cheaper for them to make all ZL1s that way and separate them further down the assembly line.
Yeah. You're right. I shouldn't have assumed that GM would do the right thing.

I just think if a company takes hundreds of orders on a brand-new product marketed as the top-of-the-line model, then before fulfilling those orders they announce a better product, that's a little unethical.

I've never liked the idea of a lease, but it certainly has its benefits. What you are saying makes perfect sense.

I don't see what's the big deal. I think it's. A waste. There basically saying it's going to be a horrible ride. The zl1 is still the better car.

Maybe by the time we get our cars that we ordered there will be bigger discounts. In about 6 months when they get here because at the rate that mine has been going I'd be surprised if it gets built at all. Especially when the TPW has change 3 times in 2 weeks. Maybe I'll just order this instead for next year.

I hope you're right about the discounts, but I don't expect we'll see any significant discounts on the ZL1 until late summer or fall. I can tell you if they offer 20% on the ZL1 like they did on the '16 SS last winter, this will be my last GM vehicle.

Annoying!!!! I was looking for a killer track car and ordered the zl1 a10. I only wish I had the option of the 1le package! I'll have a lots to think over before delivery. The dealer better be able to make me a sweet offer or else....

So bail out of your ZL1 order.

Look at the bright side. At least you didn't run out and spend $76,000 on a 5th gen Z28 only to see them selling a year down the road for high 40's - low 50's with almost zero miles on them, or new for that matter.

Hell I saw one the other day with 2000 miles on it for $42,000.

I thought about it some more and want to add:

Why this is the Z28: They're not going to make a Z28. This is the test mule that was labeled Z28. But what engine would they use for the Z28? They have no higher hp motor than the outgoing LS7 505hp. And Camaro won't get its very own engine. Corvette usually gets the new motors that trickle down to the Camaros. The only way a Z28 happens, is if the ZR1 motor is the donor.

Why this is called ZL1 instead: GM learned from the Z28 5th gen, there isn't much market for a bare bones $75,000 Camaro. I had no interest in one over the 5th gen ZL1. I wanted the nicer ride and options and greater hp. The ZL1 still felt like the top of the heap. Corvette Z06 has the Z07 package. Now Camaro has a 1LE package to offer across all trim levels.

I am still mildly annoyed by this move from GM as related to depreciation. My 5th gen value has fallen like a rock. I agree with previous post that the 20% deals suck and make it hard to be a GM fan.

Lastly, other than the value crush, the 1LE is still very track focused like the Z07. Its not for everyone and I don't need it Just stinks not getting the top dog. Also, I think pricing will be about 75-78 max. At 80K, you can get a Z06 and I think most people would consider this at that point. Corvette values don't crash as badly, but maybe I'm wrong.

This was due to the major incentives GM offered and screwed current owners. And now, I'm going to take another hit on a ZL1 before even taking delivery due to the timing of their announcement.

At this point I'm considering canceling my order. GM needs to be a little more considerate of their current customers.
Perhaps you should get what you want and not be so hell bent on having "the best" simply because it's the best.

Maybe the name ZL1 1LE is a ruse to throw you off or maybe it's the answer to the Dodge Demon. Who knows? Maybe it's just an after thought which came along in sequence when they found they could further improve the line. Nothing wrong with ANY version of the new ZL1. The ego is powerful poison.
