I'm beginning to think that all states in the Union have bad drivers. Some states worse than others. I have friends in several states and they tell me the same thing that there are terrible drivers in their states too. And a OTR trucker tells me the same thing too in all the states he's been in. I know here in Georgia we have the highest liability claims in the country and that's why every other commercial comes a lawsuit attorney. I believe that all these electronic devices are causing a lot of bad driving and accidents. There is a law of no texting in Georgia but I see it everyday on the roads with drivers doing it while driving!

You're gonna get bad drivers when the driving tests everywhere are a joke.
Can't wait for the computer driven cars to get here to drive all these people who would rather not drive anyway. Bonus if we can then have real driving tests and force anyone who gets below a certain grade to not legally be allowed to directly operate a vehicle on public roads under mandatory community service penalties. |

I live in Atlanta, from south Florida originally. Both terrible places to drive, but I'd definitely give the edge to Atlanata, but as a whole state Florida because outside of the ATL metro area GA is fine, where as Florida is much more densely populated

Yeah florida is terrible.... going to college in orlando I've been told by multiple friends from out of state that they have never had to drive so defensively all the time in their life.

I have ridden a motorcycle in more states than I've driven a car or truck since that is my preferred method of travel and I've covered most of the country on a bike.
From my perspective, certain areas have drivers that seem to largely do the same annoying thing. In parts of CA some drivers are horrible about letting drivers on onramps merge. It's like it will ruin their day and make them late to let one driver into the flow of traffic. In parts of Idaho and many other states they seem to really enjoy going slow in the left lane next to someone going the same speed in the right lane. In Montana it doesn't seem like it matters what they're driving, if it's a guy behind the wheel and you go to pass them, they will speed up considerably. Around Salt Lake City if you are in a HOV lane (which is allowed for bikes with only a rider), going 10 over, they will pass you in the other lanes like you are standing still, and weave in and out of the HOV lane at will, with little or no warning. In many of the eastern states I've had a problem on a bike with just not being seen. I think Texas is probably one of my favorite states, at least away from the population centers. I've had so many nice Texans see me coming up quickly in their rear view mirror get over so I can safely pass without slowing down. In Colorado it often seems to be the opposite. They will see you coming in an area where it's difficult to pass and slow down to slow you down. As has been said, you have to watch out no matter where you are. It doesn't typically take too long to figure out any common traits among local drivers in any given area. |

Yep. Jacksonville is at the top of my list. Worse than Wash DC IMO.

The absolute worst!! ~~~~~~~ Only thing that makes it bearable is that I worked & crossed daily into Mexico for 14 years in the maquilas...that place will test your patience with humanity, but doesn't qualify here. I'll likely never return. |
