No firsthand experience in catastrophic crashes with Camaro or Mustang.
But, a fellow racer/friend of mine was driving his 2008 Viper home from a race one day. No one was with or following him. But, the police figured that he was going upwards of 100mph on a country road and lost control. The car hit several trees, killing him. But, he didn't die from blunt-force trauma, cuts, or hitting his head. In fact, the passenger cabin was almost completely intact (no crushing, intrusions, etc.). He was killed because the sudden deceleration literally ripped his aorta off of his heart. He bled out, internally, in a matter of seconds. After seeing what the Viper can do in a crash, I'm a believer. Furthermore, I think most performance cars are like this - especially ones made to go on a track. They have far more structural rigidity than a normal car. This is needed for performance. But, it serves just as good in a crash. |

Agreed. But not a Camaro or Mustang. They're nearly as big as a Malibu or Fusion...

My TT 1LE went shiny side down, when a MUSTANG driver who could not handle the TT Chevy power at the NJ Motorsports Lightning track took a spin in it. He walked away afer flipping the car at lease 10 feet in the air. I watched it from the parking lot. He had a small cut on his hand his Dr. son sewed up at the track.
First of all Mustang owners need to learn how to drive. Just kidding. Luck is part of any accident but modern cars give you alot more luck. Back on topic. I think the new Mustang GT puts it right next to the SS with better sightlines. I think I would have a hard time deciding betwwen the two if I didn't already have a CA6 SS. It is sweet, but the Mustang just could be equally so, maybe a little sweeter being fresher. My SS is ready for M6 GTs with a 7,400 redline. But maybe not GTs with an A10. Is this coming to Camaros? Just a sideline here, I have a Honda accord that can try to drive for you. Not a fan. Paying attention and staying off the phone is better than any current car can do. Maybe in 10 years that will not be true. Enjoy driving while you can and be safe.
