Why would they get me off the lot and keep calling every few days begging me to go back? They still call me like every 2-3 weeks. Honest question, never seen this ridiculous behavior before.

I tried to buy a ZL1 from them, they did the same thing. The internet price was $62k but they tried to jack it up to $66k. I had taken a screen shot of the lower price but they wouldn't honor it. I walked out and left them negative feedback on google and yelp. There are plenty of dealers that will sell at supplier plus discounts, I think a Bob Howard does.

Kind of a similar thing happened to me. The dealer advertised my RS 1LT for $23,400 on the Internet. I contacted them through the Internet and scheduled a test drive. When they took me to the car, the sticker said "$30,000." I said "Whoa I want to see the $23,400 car". They said "this is the car, you will get it for the Internet price since you contacted us there first."

Said they would do me a favor a honor the $36k and claimed it was a mistake of the "internet people". They also said warranty was counting since September (I visited in November). The final insult was offering $7,500 under the book value for my trade-in with low miles and near perfect condition.

An this is why I now have a Camaro.
Similar thing too here.

Went early November to my friends recommended Ford Dealer and met up with their sales guy (they were loyal customers to this guy for years [having bought 5 cars in 4 years from him and had friends and family buy from him too]).

This was in Pittsburg California and the 2016 Mustang GT Premium (performance pack, 401A option group) was in Richmond, Advertised online for $42,070... They were doing a dealer transfer and suddenly they were saying it's $47,7xx... Sticker was $43,070. They tried to add over $5700 in dealer mark up... My friends showed up not long after me and were embarrassed and pissed at their sales guy.

After throwing a fit, They took off the mark up but put in a $3K warranty I didn't want but didn't notice it until I got home... I signed a contract, wrote a $15K down payment check but never took possession of the car... Cancelled the check later that night, and when they called the next morning after they got the Mustang, washed it and gassed it up. I told them I wasn't going to take it after all. They were pissed of course and begged me to go take it, even saying what I did was illegal.

The upper boss called an hour later and offered to take $5K off MSRP... They had already lost my trust so I went to my local Chevy dealership a few days later prepared for war but there was none... They were very nice and understanding. I didn't feel raped when I left after putting my $15K check down and driving away with a $47K Camaro. Didn't get as good of a deal as the upper boss at that Ford Dealership was offering but I am happier with my Camaro.

Dealers know what they've done. If they deny your copy of their ad, run away fast. Like the Arby's sandwich ad, "You shouldn't be there".

Not to go too far off the thread, but Truecar.com is the best way to annoy some1 for the rest of their life.
How?
Step 1, Sign them up for car X across multiple states.
Step 2, Sign them up for for car y across other multiple states.
Sit back and laugh.

The problem with truecar.com is, it is not centralized. Let's say Tommy really wanted a car and he used Truecar.com and he bought a car using truecar.com other truecar.com agents will still be bugging him for the next few months, because they don't know that he bought his car because truecar.com lacks the infrastructure to upload a note about Tommy and say, "hey don't bug Tommy he already bought a car". They only have the ability to download the original information saying that Tommy wants a car and nothing more.

Which makes it ideal to terrorize some poor soul.

Ahh, haven't had my coffee yet....Last thread I jack today..I swear.....

I had a dealership owner doing that to me after looking at a used truck and walking away from it. Lasted a month.

I call it a "leg-humper" tactic.

Emails.....voicemails......direct mail.....

Even after being told I wasn't interested in his truck, for legit reasons (it was beat to crap, honestly)
They keep throwing their hat into the ring, hoping to get a chance to break you down.

Wow, not good to hear. I have been dealing with them for 2 months now on a 1LE Camaro. They don't want to come down any trying to say they have the only ones in the USA and it is a limited option run vehicle.

They didn't even know what the 1LE was until I came in asking about it. The sales kid even left me a VM saying they have 6 1LE in stock and it is the largest amount of any dealer in the USA right now.

The general mgr even said there was no way a dealer would sell a Camaro 1SS with the 1LE under $40k in the USA, even after I showed him the stuff from the dealer in Virginia.

That's ok, I will just go thru the dealer in Ponca City. I know the owner of the dealership and he is willing to make sure I get a better deal than any of the local dealers, just have to drive 2 hours to get the deal.

OP what you do is find the car you want and get a price for you directly from the Internet department before you even walk in. And you can specifically ask for the itemized out the door price. You can still haggle a little if the dealer if they are desperate. Bring the printed offer or email and if the price goes up then walk out.

It turns out dealers (most) treat Internet buyers with more respect. Still you have to be on your guard at all times.

I second this. Cold entering dealers is the exact opposite way to buy a car nowadays. I have purchased my last two cars through the online department. Got great discounts and customer service compared to trying to just walk in. Will never just walk in again.

I have a good one for you. Here's the ad I saw on 3 different websites. The dealers own site, cars.com, and I believe TRUECAR.

For those that don't know, this is a Rouch stage 3 Mustang GT a $70,000 car priced at around 40,000. Needless to say they wouldn't sell it to me for this price when I showed them the ad the salesman walked off from me for 20 minutes I finally let my fellings a be known.

Don't know if I could have made them sell me it for that. I don't know. A lot of people told me to contact the Better Business Bureau and a few other places but never did.

This was FANNINS BOYD COUNTY FORD. FANNINS owns another dealership here also, I'll never step foot on either of there lots again.

Looks like they obviously listed the MSRP of the Mustang GT without including the additional cost of the Roush package, which is not listed on the window sticker (separate sticker should be attached with itemized Roush equipment).

EDIT: I visited the dealer website and no price listed (Call for Price). Looking at the pictures, the Roush sticker is affixed to the windshield. That total along with the MSRP of the Mustang (window sticker on the passenger window) would give you the total.
