How many days can you drive on a run flat? Mine went flat today and I figured I would wait till Tuesday to get it fixed.

I heard somewhere it was 50 miles. I drove 3-4 miles home and then parked it until the dealer opened last Tuesday. Then, an 8 mile drive to them. The tire was starting to really make noise by that point, but it did sit on a completely flat tire for two days.

What are you doing for a jack, and did you buy some of those bolt-on jack pads? I am considering your approach, but there's actually a lot to carry around: plug kit, compressor, soap solution, flashlight, jack, lug wrench, jack pad, and razor blade to trim the plug flush. Probably something else I'm forgetting!

Reason I'm not getting rid of them...

I came home from an exhausting week long work trip in another state. Walked up to my car in the airport and a tire was low due to a screw in it.. Even though I couldn't floor it, being able to drive my car, which is my biggest joy, back home was perfect.

I did buy the original jack pad and just placed an order for the bolt on pads. I really am uncomfortable not being able to just jack it up as easily as I'm used to. The jack pads are essential.
I'm still not comfortable without a jack or spare, but I do have run flats and roadside assist. I still feel uncomfortable without a jack, lug wrench, and such. I could put in after market items. Just my thoughts.

Thank God for tpms with runflats. Had a flat leaving my house this morning. Had no idea. Picked up a screw. Plugged, and all good again.

Yes. Yes I do.

Why? Is that not how we are supposed to drive them?

Yeah, I am a little bit confused by the idea of carrying a plug kit and compressor without the tools to get the car up and wheel off! Plus you need some soap to find the hole unless there is an obvious nail or screw still in the tire.

I have carried a pump and plug kit and used it on multiple occasions, typically shortly after buying new tires, you will pick up a nail or screw. You do need a spotter to look for the nail while you drive slowly 1 revolution of the tire.

So these tires run rough 24/7, and are a nightmare every time it rains, but they will run up to 50 miles without air. PS: If you go the full 50, the tire is still ruined and needs to be replaced. You can plug a run-flat, but I don't think shops typically do because of the sidewall damage from them doing their job the one time.
