Maybe the $15k price difference. Still doing homework on it. I'm not looking to mod this car as my Z06 is my toy. The HC I looked at over the weekend was a '16 w/1100 miles for $63k. So, it's in that same range as the Zl1. I won't pay $72k for a '17 Hellcat tho.
I would recommend the Hellcat Charger over the ZL1 since you already have a Z06. There are some decent discounts on 2016 Hellcats. Here's a couple of hellcats in Oklahoma City with some good discounts.

Two entirely different cars, both have power, one is a circle track whore and the other is an interstate cruiser with room for a couple adults and their luggage. The Chevy is pretty much the handler and the HC is a mix of comfort and power. Fuel economy would be a nice comparison likely favoring the Aero. I doubt I'd pay more for a Dodge but the interior is pretty nice.

So just got off the phone with my dodge dealer and the reveal is going to be at the New York auto show this year

It's basically a challenger on steroids with a widebody kit it's track ready and it's going to have over 800 hp and he will apparently eat everything on the road

RWD track car is what they're claiming an all-around track car race car straight line car quarter-mile car 0 to 60 car and everything car

That's a ways away from what the current vehicle is...

Again I'm a GM guy so let's make that clear. Not a Dodge guy. But I'm a car guy and if these guys come out with what they are saying it's gonna be amazing. My ZL1 is coming yes, but I do respect others.

The dealer rep also said that its trying with the Demon to close the gap between the current hellcat and the viper as this is the last year for the viper apparently ...

He said the track performance will be amazing. So the once one dimensional Challenger Hellcat will become the all capable Challenger Demon.

Love them or hate them you have to give them props for uping their game and the car HP wars.

It's a great time to be a car guy!!

Most cars attempt to be everything to everybody. Then there are the rare few that revel in a single objective, rendering them totally irresistible to a subculture," said Tim Kuniskis, Fiat Chrysler's head of passenger car brands. "The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car and a half second is your reputation."

It is more likely than not that this intended to be an indomitable drag racer.

The Challenger has never shown even an iota of handling capability...Dodge is playing to its strengths, and there's nothing wrong with that...

Have my doubts too, but we know they can do it with the viper. Would just be cool to have the big 3 each have a car in the same $60k-$70k window that are competitive on both the 1/4 & tracks with turns.

That's exactly how I read that too. The "tenth is a car" sounds like straight line talk to me. Just a better drag racer than the current Hellcats. Sounds like they are addressing one of the Hellcats main needs. More rubber.

I read somewhere last night that it would be 188 lbs lighter.
What I'd love to see is for Chevy to counter by this fall with something badder. Perhaps a street legal COPO. If Tony can build it and pass smog then Chevy should do it too.
Well that was quick. LMAO

I had ordered a Hellcat and passed on it when I saw the Zl1 in person. Once I saw the Zl1 I knew I wanted it. Now understand this comes from a man who has a 14 GT 500 and a 16 GT 350. So it wasn't a need it was an absolute bone piercing want. My throbbing for this car came to fruition after visiting a dealer that had a summit white one on the floor. It now resides with me. I can't slander Dodge and love their product as well but I just fell hard for the Zl1 and its approach and package. I think that from a dig with power shifting the Zl1 will certainly give a Hellcat fits but when it comes to total balance and roadability the old Mercedes chassis cannot compete with the alpha platform. That's a fact.

They simply need sticky rubber. My buddy ran a 6.80 @ 103.38 last night with his HC. Stickies.
