Just go buy a new SS like you want. This is an extremely rare incident. And far as the rear end yes mine does it but it's not really that bad or loud just does it when it's cold on a turn or two and only a few miles. If u keep reading and reading up here your go nuts worrying lol.

If nothing else, request they give you an extended warranty on anything they take apart. Im willing to bet that GM has someone looking at it besides the local tech - they sent a guy in just to look at the wheels on my car when the paint failed on them. Im sure they will want to know what caused a catastrophic failure of the engine.

And whats with the loaner? Maybe for a quick repair but for an extended stay at the dealer they should put you in something at least as nice as your SS.
Corvettes have the same issue. Quite a few replaced their engines. Long term test of a 2016 Corvette in Motor Trend had it's motor go bad.

While it sucks that the engine may of had a extreme failure, GM is not required to provide the customer with anything more than a vehicle to drive. If you want luxury treatment then you need to buy a luxury brand. Otherwise all GM requires the dealer to do is put the customer in a newer GM only vehicle. It doesn't say that it has to be the same vehicle or even similar. The dealers are going to go with vehicles that are cost effective to them and ones that reduce the chance of a customer driving the car hard and losing control and totaling out the dealers car.

I guess broken valve spring. Sounds like it ran for a bit with the noise and reduced power, then seized.

I imagine this is very frustrating but theyll figure out a solution for you. Thankfully you are under warranty and your dealer gave you a loaner. Back when I had a dodge the dealer would not give loaners, so I had to rent out of pocket for as long as they had the car.

First off, why are you bouncing the rev limiter when doing a burn out. Second, why the hell are you driving it when it started making that noise. Just because some other idiot told you to drive it doesn't make it right. Hope they make it right for you.

There have been a number of engine failures in the Vette too. Stuff happens.

I suggest keeping as much information about this off the internet as possible until you've been given a fair resolution by GM.

They will make sure you are taken care of, but I wouldn't post anything that may place any blame on you. (even if it's 100% not your fault)

When you spend $45k+ for a car this kind of thinking is unacceptable.

Have you seen the issues million dollar cars have? 45k is like a pedal jumper in the car world. It's only a step up from a Cruze...
