LTG Top Speed Per Gear

Hey guys,

I was looking for a chart that shows the top speed per gear for the LTG but can't find one. Does it exist yet? I have the manual.

Today my friend and I decided to see what this car had so we gunned it on a quiet road and I think I shifted into 2nd about 35mph then into 3rd about 60 mph. Never looked at the tachometer, just went by feeling and sound. Now it has me wondering where I was in relation to red line.

I have been bench marking gear shifts based on the RPMs. Will move to higher gear between 3.5K to 4K RPM on a warmed engine. Will be a bit soft when the engine is cold. My car has only 1100 miles.
The concern I have is I don't get a chance to drive in 6th gear at all in higher 4th for lower 5th gear, I reach 65 Mph and cross the State speed limit and have to slow down :-(.

I had an Acura RSX that I used to shift to 6th gear around MPH.

I went ahead and used a calculator online to figure out the theoretical top speeds in each gear for a manual transmission car.

The numbers below are hypothetical maximums based on engine redline of 7000, the tire diameter of 27.7" which is the RS package 245/40/20 tires, and final drive ratio of 3.27... This does not take into account the horsepower required to go a certain speed to overcome the aerodynamic drag, at some point one or the other will take over and limit the car because there is no way it will ever go as fast as what I'm about to post in the top gear. These are just mathematical MAXIMUMS for tire size, gearing and redline...

1st gear 40mph
2nd gear 68mph
3rd gear 98mph
4th gear 132mph
5th gear 176mph
6th gear 235mph

Mathematically, that's what it could do if HP and aerodynamic drag wasn't taken into effect. We know it will do over 132. But 176... That's probably a stretch, without some extra HP. 235? Never happen.

Fun to think about.

I know you can hit 158 on the dyno again not real world driving conditions and i'm using the A8 Tranny.

Right. At some point the speed limiter will kick in unless it's disabled in the tune.

Just to pick some of your brains... I have the Auto 8-speed transmission, My 1st gear is SUPER friggin short. To those of you who have the 6 sp man, is your gearing this way as well? I guess this is to be expected with an 8 speed transmission, but i didnt think it would be this short.

For comparison, here is the theoretical 8 speed auto top speed per gear, based on the 27.7 in tire diameter, 7000 redline, no aerodynamic drag, and hp not taken into account.

1st gear 38mph
2nd gear 58mph
3rd gear 85mph
4th gear 106mph
5th gear 140mph
6th gear 176mph
7th gear 208mph
8th gear 268mph

You're quick! Thanks Jason Pretty interesting to see the comparison to the 6 speed
