Also, before the whole "crush bend bla bla" you're only seeing a 3-5% loss with crush bend over mandrel bend. With like say, a catback. You might see a 15hp gain. So 15-5%=14.25hp. If a custom crush bent exhaust costs $500 installed and a mandrel bent catback system costs $1500 installed, you're paying what? $1125/hp?

I'll probably get my mid-pipe done to 3" from the cat to the axle-back done this summer yes a true 100% cat-back would be ideal but I didn't wanna wait for Ark Performance to develop one for our cars they had mentioned late fall to me as a timeline but still nothing on even the SS. That collapsed section over the driveshaft brace is insanely ugly and i'm really not sure what function that serves aside from further restriction. I bought the BMR brace on cyber Monday so i'll probably have it all done at once.

I may be a bit nit picky about keeping our weight balance proper but an idea would be to cut the stock exhaust system off closer to the engine. Even middle of the car. And install lighter piping..and as you get closer to the rear of the car install a lightweight oval or round muffler BEFORE the "Y". It would remove a lot of weight from the car.

Most of the aftermarket kits are two mufflers.

With you on this one; wish someone would make a 3-3.5" turboback with a single exit...knock some serious weight off this puppy... Might go custom if need be

This might be true on a stock power car, but as you increase power the loss will also increase exponentially with a crush bent system...
If your goal is just a better/ different sound then this could be a very affordable way to go it however

That's a pic I believe I stole from phastek. Not mine!

Near as I can tell you're going to need to cut and clamp to get the stock muffler off anyways. So there's zero benefit to buying a system when a shop can cut off your stock muffler, slap on some aftermarket mufflers, *weld* your pipes, and align your tips to your liking. You're also supporting a local business and keeping money in the local economy.

Alright, I'll get off my Austinite soapbox now
So I did just that, went to the local place and realized what a nightmare and at what expense it would be.
Sticking with stock at the moment -I don't have a grand going spare at the moment! Thanks for the advice guys.

I too have much want for this type of product. Has Corsa announced anything for the LTG Camaro yet?

They've basically said if the market wants it they will make it. But currently no actual word from what I know of at least.

That is true, that 3-5% is going to matter when you're making huge power, but then you're just going to do an open turbo dump pipe anyways right? :P (or whatever it's called). Axleback/Catback, as far as my limited knowledge of turbos go, most of your exhaust restriction is in the downpipe correct?

That really sucks, what did they quote you if you don't mind me asking? Not sure of your geographic area, but have you tried calling other shops? The reason I ask is, the ones here in Austin proper were quoting $600 for a stupid axleback on my Mustang. I called a few places in the rural parts and eventually got one for around $250 parts and labor.

Interesting, are you referring to this?

Haha, not me, but maybe some other guys here will cut a hole in their hood and go full 1320 style
I believe you'd be right in most cases to make that assumption about the downpipe
