I had a friend with 70 Chevelle SS 396, that car felt like you were going fast at 90 mph because it was all over the place. This new car has a settled chassis, tight steering and is much more isolated from road variations and road noise.

Top speed wise though, I need to break 130 to even notice anything lol...you get used to everything over time.
Thanks I needed to hear that! Going through withdrawals here waiting for my FI...thankfully my other car is a K1300S.

Google "Ayrton Senna's Monaco lap" and watch what some people consider to be the all-time best lap at that track. He struggles to keep that car in control while he is at 10/10ths virtually the entire lap.

Then Google the same track but with Hamilton Lewis (or somebody else if you have a favorite). His hands are much calmer while driving faster than Senna.

The difference is 20 years of chassis tuning and tire improvements. The question is, which do you prefer, a hectic challenging driving experience or a more placid, but faster ride?

I think my V6 6 speed is every bit as fast as the 96 z28 6speed I used to have and would wipe the floor with my old 89 Iroc 5.7

I can't lie to you I had the V6 2012 Bumblebee made it quick with mods. when I drove the V6 6th gen it felt very quick with no mods.

This car blows me away every day. I came from a mazda 3(170hp/130ftlb) and have never driven or owned anything with a higher power to weight ratio. My parents have had v6 sedans and suv's but due to the extra weight there was never a solid feeling of acceleration unless the pedal was mashed to the floor from a stop.

I had to pass a car the other day and was amazed how i was able to accelerate from 60+ and still feel a solid push with little effort. When i tried the same in my mazda the engine would struggle so hard and it would take forever.

When I first got my 6th Gen A8 V6 RS, to me it didn't feel like a car GM says will do 0-60 in 5.1 seconds but having owned it a month and 1,200 miles later, I can honestly say this car is getting faster. I came from a semi modded and tuned v6 07 Charger with a very responsive throttle which most times feels faster. Now that I'm getting used to the Camaro, it definitely is faster than my Charger. I think our perception plays a lot into how we think a car drives.

I know it's faster than that car was but the 4th gen was just so raw and squirrely that I got such a different perception of speed.

The 6th gen is light years ahead of the 4th gen and I'm 100% fine with the perception not being there if it means not being in a rattle trap with broken plastic bits everywhere I'm just curious if anyone else drove one and thought "Hmm...I was expecting it to be faster" the first time they got on it.

This is in no way a knock on the new car. I actually prefer the way this one feels now that I'm a little older. I'm just curious if anyone else felt the same way.
Yeh..I have. I have driven several SS's all with stick. Some just seemed a lot quicker than others although supposedly the same car. Just drive the one you want to buy and make sure power is up to snuff.

From an SS owner

After driving for a while If you daily drive like me then you get so used to it that it no longer feels fast.

It's probably the same no matter the power level, you get used go it. Maybe a little slower the higher you go, but eventually the sensation tapers off. Human nature.

I traded in a 2012 Mustang GT for my current, 2016 SS. Both cars are auto.

The thing is my Coyote "felt" faster on my butt dyno, mainly launching it snapped more violent. My SS is faster but also a lot smoother too and you don't feel the bumps as much but the speed gets up there faster.

My GT wasn't nearly as a smooth ride. I think that's why the GT felt faster.
