I have a 1ss 2016 a8 and just went 11.905 at 117 absolutely bone stock with a 1.78 60ft. With bolt on s guys are putting down 11.5's ...nitrous and or FI 10.80s. I can't wait for my Nos setup I'm gonna try 100shot only and see where that gets me..if I break into the tens with only that mod...and a tune to pull timing but that's it..street car running 10's..when I was racing bracket cars 15 years ago I'd laugh in your face. This car is without a doubt the best bang for your 💵

damn, this thread almost went a whole year dead... so close!
Hmm... now that I think about it, I've begun feeling that way myself. This car just doesn't feel fast for me anymore... it did when I first got it. Looks like I got an excuse to add some boost! Like others said tho, I never did get that "oh shit" feeling because of how smooth the car feels when accelerating. I drove my 91 Z28 the other day tho, and suddenly my '16 felt fast again

Old cars are less isolated and provide a greater sense of speed. The newer performance stuff is so refined and comfortable that 100 mph feels like 50.

"Fast" is a very relative term.

Use to drive a Turbo pocket rocket car that had 475 tq. Nothing feels fast to me anymore, but really because Turbos give you that roller coaster feeling.

My 5th gen felt slower than my 4th gen. Not this car no way.
It feels almost as fast as my 2010 in heads/cam form |

It's fast, but I got use to the power after 6 months of ownership.

You get used to everything over time. It started feeling "tame" to me too right before I added a blower earlier this summer. I've racked up about 8k miles so far with the blower, headers and tune and I don't think I've ever put the pedal all the way to the floor. It's still feels too fast for the road and the feeling hasn't worn off when I accelerate. Top speed wise though, I need to break 130 to even notice anything lol...you get used to everything over time.

Tesla electric cars are both smooth AND quiet yet people rave about their acceleration (and I assume they're experiencing it, not just watching the speedo). |

What I think it really comes down to is the fact that as the driver in the new Camaro, you are in full control. You are the driver in control of a car that is easy to control compared to older shaky cars, but as a passanger, things are much different. It's all about the the feeling of control that affects the "oh shit" factor. My .02¢

This has been a primary driver of people sticking with older cars, or the drive for more power. Throwing more HP and TRQ at it will work right? kind of... I have said this many times, but I had expected this car to throw me in my seat a lot more. It just doesn't happen. Maybe the extra 100hp/trq I am going for will help.

I believe a big function/reason for this is twofold. First, I have had many high powered turboed cars and when the turbo kicks in the feeling is immediate. Second, seats and "refinement" make a huge difference. All those turboed cars had Recaro racing seats or super uncomfortably stuff "sport seats" which makes it much harder to "sink" into those unlike our seats which I love because it feels like a couch with some side support. Downside of that however is that it absorbs a lot of the sink and doesn't give you that seat of your pants feeling. But like the guy above said, when I'm in the passenger seat I do feel it. I think it's because that seat is not as broken in and still has that factory stiffness. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
