I switched from my 2016 competition orange performance pack GT to a 2016 2SS with MRC and dual mode exhaust. I hadn't been happy with the handeling and torque of the GT, so I made some changes trying to make me like it. I added BMR sway bars, Steeda springs, Steeda cold air and a performance tune. It still felt numb on the steering and too slow unless I reved the heck out of it. It was also quiet, but my wife said, "your not going to make the exhaust loud are you?" and I had to consider my next steps. I test drove a couple of 2016 Camaro's when the 20% off rebate came out and felt the handeling was better with much improved steering feel. The Camaro has so much more usable torque with just a slight peddle push. The 6sp Camaro feels like it is able to be in the right gear all of the time unlike the Mustang that always felt it was a gear high at 3k or a gear low at 1.8k with no power...I love the dual mode exhaust option on the Camaro and my wife who always complains about my car's ride quality said, "it's so smooth". The visability is the one thing that I feel the Mustang had better, but I am so happy making the switch. For the record, I've owned a 2001 Bullitt Mustang, a 1998 Supercharged Roush Mustang and a 2005 S197 so it's not like I am a "Chevy" guy. In the month I've had the Camaro, I get a huge smile every time I drive it. The Mustang had become a garage queen and I only put on 2K miles in 6 months of owning it, because I was so disapointed with it. My Golf R was so much more fun to drive that I stopped driving the Mustang for the most part. Now I'm super happy and wouldn't consider switching back.

Funny you're thinking of the switch, I myself have been thinking of swapping my 2SS for a GT. My 2SS's touchscreen has been acting on its own and changing settings for the past month or so, and the dealership(s) cant seem to fix the issue. Kind of obnoxious when your car changes its language to French and you cannot stop it.

I owned a 2015 GT premium for a little over a year before getting a Camaro 2SS. What liked about the GT was the looks but was disappointed with the performance. Once I drove the 2SS I was sold and with the red tag, company and military discount it helped offset the cost of the change. But as most members have stated go drive the car and you should immediately notice the difference.

I've really gotten accustomed to the touchscreen radio face on the Camaro, so something like this Mustang's radio, IMO, has too many physical buttons. And the customizability of the Camaro's display between the 2 physical gauges is unbeatable. The physical gauges on the dash between the air vents remind me of the 4 gauge pod on the 5th Gen. I never used those gauges & didn't like them. On the 6th Gen, you can use those types of gauges in a digital form if you want to - you're not forced to look at something you may not want.
And the buttons on the steering wheel that are used to select radio favorites & adjust volume - the fact that you can pull the backwards towards you & not eventually wear off the white ink is pure genius. A simple solution that every car maker should have implemented long ago. However, the usb area in front of the shifter on the Mustang would be great on the Camaro; I wouldn't have to reach backwards to plug the phone in & the phone could sit in the recessed area right by the usb port itself. Although the Mustang's storage bin (behind the cup holders) doesn't have that long narrow portion that our Camaros do, it still located too far back for me. This is something I think both cars could improve. Make the storage bin more easily accessible to the driver. I have a feeling that the next gen Mustang will take more cues from the Camaro's interior (touchscreen, customizability). |

I've driven 2 of the current body GTs. One was a Rousch SC 2016. I will say that it was the first time that I've EVER liked the driving experience of a mustang. I do like the styling of the current mustang a lot. The rear was ugly to me for a long time but has grown on me. The struggle for me was performance based. There's just not enough power. It's the slowest of the 3 "muscle cars". I would have been able to choose the mustang over the challenger as the challenger felt like an aircraft carrier.
Honestly, I DO like the current Mustang but I'm sorry, the Camaro IS a better car. For many reasons. I'm sad that the mustang will get a redesign soon because the GT is a beautiful car at present. To each their own I suppose but the 6th Gen is just a beast. The LT1 makes excellent power EVERYWHERE! The Brakes are phenomenal. I drove the 6 piston upgrade car and aside from initial bite, I couldn't see the point. The base Brakes are strong as hell. The car is lighter, more nimble, and faster than the other Pony cars. Visibility is blown WAY out of proportion to me. Set your mirrors right and you have NO blind spots. I've had a few first year issues but nothing that the dealer couldn't fix for me. Finding a good dealer is always a factor. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Theres no way you can get an accurate assessment from a 10 min test drive with a sales guy in your ear - renting for a couple of days will give you the ability to test it thoroughly. I get around the Camaros visibility issues by just passing everyone else up, then switching lanes. As mentioned above...you do have plenty of tech gadgets to compensate. The 370Z visibility is even worse and Corvettes isnt all that great either. |

The S550 Mustang is an awesome platform and a great car. I drove a couple of them before I bought my Z and was very impressed.
Contrary to others' opinions, I like the Mustang interior and exterior a lot. Great visibility, an adult can actually sit in the rear of the Mustang (and without having to crane their head over 45*), and the 5.0 is a very good motor. The 6G Camaro is an awesome platform in its own right and actually is a much stronger performer with higher grade mechanicals, even up against the PP for the Mustang. The Mustang's Getrag transmission is very problematic and there a tons of complaints about it. The lower end torque of th LT1 is overwhelming when you drive them back to back so it's hard to not love that part alone. 8 speed auto vs 6 speed in the Mustang. But that is not taking anything away from the Mustang. You just need to drive both of them more than a 10 minute ride along with the salesperson. There are things about both to love and also to hate. Just see which one fits YOU the best in all things and go from there. They are too different in many ways (including pricing) to not feel strongly about one vs the other. My personal opinion is the Camaro is a slightly better overall performance car but it does come with a price. Good luck!

To me performance or price aside... the ****ing ugly retro shit of the Mustang was a turn off, you will spend 99% of the time looking the interior not the exterior, these ****s at Ford really should have invested more in their shit plastic shit interior.

All of these of course are my opinion, but to call the quality of the Ford interior sh%# is to call the quality of the camaro interio sh#@. They really are on par in terms of materials. For those that hate the look of the liberal use of buttons around the radio...I did too. That is one of the reasons I went with the premium option. With the Full LCD screen, the buttons dissapear and everything cleans up MUCH better. Of course, this is also another reason why the base GTs are so cheap...they don't come standard with the LCD screens. ![]() Does GM do some things better on the interior? Absolutely. It wasn't enough for me though. I felt cramped in the camaro, and hated the reduced greenhouse (visibility). |

I switched from 15 GT fully loaded to 16 Camaro 2SS. It was a no Brainer. The Camaro was truly a whole different car performance wise. Made the Mustang look ill.
