Not even surprised really....took my car in for the 2026170 WATER INTRUSION TO FAN MODULE recall and to check out the horrible rear end noise that I experience in the morning (first use of the day or from long parking periods then turning from a stop - right or left)...but of course, they cannot duplicate.
Their only suggestion is to leave it overnight and they will try and experience it themselves. When I suggested that they pull up TSBs 2866407 REAR END CONSTANT NOISE and 700580 REAR DRIVE AXLE NOISES that I found on this thread they said, they won't "take an internet blog posting as suggestion that there is something wrong". So...I have to take it back anyway because even though I scheduled the RECALL service a week ahead of when I brought it in, they didn't have the parts AND they found out that the rear suspension toe links are cracked (TSB 28380). :( I think this time I will leave it overnight but also request that they "check the rear fluid" as was suggested above. Hopefully doing it this way will actually convince them that something is wrong.

Started making noise around 5k miles 2 months ago. I changed the fluid this past weekend- good god did it smell bad. And about as black as pen ink. Some grit on both the fill and drain bolts. Noise isn't quite gone, but is 75% quieter. Until somebody's diff actually has a problem other than a groan, i'm going to hold off on having the dealer take his time with it.

Mines back in the shop for this noise for the second time. The 1st time they said that was normal operation and didn't hear the sound (which is very loud). Hopefully this time there's a tech on it that is actually taking it on a test drive.

I received notice that they will be replacing the fluid several times and doing figure 8's in the morning to see if that remedies the issue.
From what I have read on this thread... the fluid does not solve the issue. |

My dealer installed a new differential last Friday. That definitely fixed the issue!

Just got mine from the dealer. The noise is still there. The dealership says its the brakes. When I made the statement that the loaner Camaro didn't make the noise, I was told that "I have high performance brakes and that the loaner didn't". The sound is normal for performance brakes. That's not a normal sound, doesn't even sound like brake noise (wouldn't the sound come from the front as well if it were brakes). I have a 2LT with regular brakes. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I'm overall dissatisfied with the various squeaks, rattles, and noises that's all been labeled as normal operation.

Do you guys notice it more on cold mornings? It just started dropping in the 50s here and it sounds like the rear end is seriously groaning. It's only done it for two days but Im thinking its the same issue all of you are having.
