So if I were to look at doing a blower, whether it be a Maggie or Procharger, would you suggest opening the exhaust a bit beforehand? I have NPP, so would it benefit me to go ahead and do a 3" setup with long tubes (1 7/8 or 2?) before throwing a Procharger on it?

Scaling is automatic based on the numbers, so yes you have to pay attention.

Showing HP and TQ on opposite sides allows the torque and HP to cross at 5250 as they actually do.

When we put HP and torque on the same side they don't.

Good Catch.

Ted.

Air in air out.

If you have to do them in stages I would suggest to go after the headers and exhaust first then add the supercharger.

The factory exhaust is pretty ugly on this model and they benefit more than the 5th gens did from exhaust.

So what I'm hearing is either custom 3" setup or that super sexy sounding MBRP Race series catback, long tubes, and then BOOOOOOOST.

Any truth the the 2" headers picking up more power. Wonder what a 2" primary and full 3" exhaust would pick up power wise.

Im always on the fence when going F/I...done it twice and twice Ive ended up in front of a judge paying a criminal speeding ticket explaining why I was mashing the gas like a maniac. The penalties get worse if you are racing someone and then double if you have a passenger. Just to play devils advocate ask yourself, if the above happens and my car gets impounded then Im forking over $500 plus increased insurance cost for the next 5 years...will I still be happy? Where can I use all this power living in a crowded city? It was enough for me to dump the 700HP mustang that never lost a street race.

I fight with this every day! For now Teds excellent SS tune, CAI and axle back exhaust keep me warranted and still faster than 95% of the cars I blow by on a daily basis. If I get beat by something faster, its not the end of the world nor do I feel any less "manly". Theres ALWAYS someone faster than you...its reality - aka.. ANY off the shelf all wheel drive super car.

If Tesla gets its act together all the S/C in the world will net you nothing against a 2.5sec 0-60 sedan or mom van full of supermarket goods when it blows by (quietly) your screaming Camaro. Its borderline criminal!...but hats off to a cool technology. I got smoked by one a month ago - the sap driving it was a transporter to a local car show. Car was whining the whole way.

To this day the most breathtaking straight line car I ever drove was the Nissan GT-R. Everyone else was hopelessly outmatched.

Just for the record I dont advocate city racing...theres always a prius making a left turn in front of me it seems

We have yet to test 2 inch vs 1 7/8 because the supercharger showed up before the headers I can't do a fair back to back comparison on the stock car at this time.

I suspect there will be a small difference between 1 7/8 and 2 inch, based on the 1 3/4 vs 1 7/8 testing we did complete.

The systems we tested from ARH are 3 inch back to the Mufflers then step down to 2.5 and the results are posted.

This system does not drone which is huge factor in choosing a system.

Drone will drive you crazy and will ruin the driving experience.

Ted.

Hi, Ted. We are a distributor of Magnuson and Roto-Fab in South Korea. We just ordered Maggie HB and ARH's full exhaust system with their LT. Andrew at Magnuson said that Maggie HB includes tune which is SCT X4 but I am not sure that it is enough caribration set up without custom tunes. We will add Roto-Fab CAI on Maggie as shown on your thread. Do you think SCT X4 provides right tune on this mod? We used to custom tune on our vehicles but it is the first experience to modify American muscle car with V8 so we may need your advise as well.
Thank you.

Jay

Hello Jay,
There are no provisions in the Magnuson tune or the tuner to account for LT headers and exhaust.

You will need a Custom tune.

Email me directly tedj@jannettyracing.com

Just a FYI, but if you purchase and have a magnuson installed with its stock tune and in any way further mod beyond cat back exhaust, the 3 yr supplied powertrain warranty will be void. I would venture to say you are paying for it bundled into the purchase of the kit.

Fully agree its hard to not max out everything from day 1, but is it really smart to S/C then blindly kill off the warranty without a decent break in period? Its amazing that no one ever worries about the added stress on EVERYTHING under the hood on a 45K car. You void the PT warranty after installing a simple CAI or a tune and the repairs are all yours to bear should the worst happen.

Just a thought for those trying to balance out pros/cons. Once you go down the F/I path, its like a fever that never goes away.

As someone already pointed out, you've already tuned yours before the S/C so you've already binned your warranty, so not really sure what all your concern about warranty now is.

...just giving info to those that care to read. Alternate points of view, doesnt mean I follow every one of them. Pretty sure Im not overly worried about warranties if I just blew up my Chevy one with the S/C - after only 1500 miles.

Prior ECU flashing has no bearing on the magnuson supplied warranty if returned to stock before installation. If you flash afterwards, that will void it. Read through the legal jargon twice.

Ive never been turned down for warranty claims on my previous 8 cars (scrap the 700HP mustang), as I only modded the CAI and cat back...so could return to stock. No one at a dealership has ever challenged me on flash counters. In fact the dealer flashed my SS once already with an update before I drove it off the lot, so by some peoples logic that killed my warranty??...ridiculous.

Flashing and service claims are blown up topics...20 years of tuning and no problems is evidence enough for me. Results may vary elsewhere.
