Sport Cups aren't "racing tires"...they are street tires, get over it. Slicks, drag radials, and in "betweeners" as drag racers call them, like ET Streets are racing tires. The lack of drag racing tire knowledge in a drag racing thread is concerning...

It's like I said this thread is for posting times slips NOT CHAT! If you want to chat on a subject start a thread and chat away.

Michelin advertises them as track tires: http://www.michelin.co.uk/GB/en/tyre...ort-cup-2.html

Quoting Tire Rack:
"The Pilot Sport Cup 2 is Michelin's Streetable Track & Competition tire originally developed for Original Equipment use on the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Mercedes SLS AMG Coupe Black Series and Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid super sports car. Designed to provide faster circuit times and consistent performance lap after lap, the Pilot Sport Cup 2 allows these supercars to achieve their full potential in dry conditions."

Nobody said they aren't street tires. But they are purposefully designed for track racing. They are also NOT STOCK TIRES. That is what this discussion is about.

As per Merc I'm no longer going to post, if you still feel some type of way about it feel free to start another thread.

We can always abandon the Fast List and turn this thread into a chat thread. Less work for me.

Hey Merc, you are the one that started the thread and you are the one that maintains it ( it's much appreciated btw) I think the question that slo asked is a valid one.....and would stop the bickering....just a simple clarification is all I believe he asked for.

Thanks again for devoting your time to the list

A "racing" tire as you called them many times is not street legal, which these are. As i said, they are street tires.

Not to mention they are designed for better track performance, meaning road course, autoX, etc. That equals a stiffer sidewall. That is a negative thing for drag racing, hence why drag tires have soft sidewalls.

Sorry Merc, just needed to clearify some misconceptions and falsities.

By the way, tire rack doesn't have a Sport Cup 2 in a 315 size???

Sorry Merc one last thing...... typo on 315 thats my DR, they are 305 and 285 front. also they come on Audi as well.

Don't assume that my definition of "racing" tire is the same as your definition. To me, a racing tire such as Pilot Sport Cup 2's CAN be street tires as well. But they were made for 1 thing -- RACING! Drag radials are meant for one thing -- RACING, however they are still street legal.

The stiffer sidewall is really not that big of a deal, as they have stiff sidewall slicks available. However the softer and stickier compound is a HUGE plus for launching, hence the 60ft.

You said it yourself, they were designed for better TRACK performance, stop arguing that they should be included on the stock list!

Wicked 60 foot time, not sure what happened after that with that 60 foot I would have thought you would have a lower ET and more top end. a big minus DA at that track last night too.

These runs are why I love this car. 11s with very little work. Congrats!

It's an auto, the lower (numerically higher) gear ratios will make them 60' well, but they won't keep that momentum all the way down. ET to ET, a manual will tend to trap a tad more if all things are totally equal. Lots and lots of variables...but if you would have had that 60' time you would have ran like an 11.70, just think about that lol...but I think a gear swap would be needed for that. Someone at some point will do that I'm sure...
