I agree completely. I am not a fanboi for any brand, I just want the best tool for the job in which I envision the vehicle being used for...with price being a factor.
In 2003 I bought a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8, it was a great fun to drive car. In 2006 bought a Chevrolet 2500HD/Duramax as I needed it for ranch work. In 2008 I bought a 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8 and sold the Evo (had first kid in 2007, still wanted fast and fun but with more room). In 2011 bought a Ford F350/Powerstroke which I still have.

The point above is that unlike many others who will argue far into the land of stupidity (thePill) based off of brand or model, it can be argued that just about any manufacture today can make a very good and capable car....if they really want to. I do not really care who makes it so long as they are a major, reputable manufacturer and the vehicle performs the way I want it to.

If the GT350R was selling at MSRP at most then it would absolutely be on my radar, actually way up on my radar. When you have sooo many different individuals saying how enjoyable and fun a car is, well, they cannot all be full of it or wrong. I really do think the GT350R is that good.

However, I will not pay ADM. None. Given as the 1LE is also undoubtedly a fantastic car to drive, it will be available at MSRP or better, and is such a steal for the money; it is currently up there on my list right now.

With that being said, if I can make myself wait until early next summer then I will take a long hard look at the 2017 z06 with the revised cooling (provided it works). If next year is anything like this where dealers are offering z06's at 20% off MSRP then a 1LZ M7 with just the Nav/PDR as an option could very well be had for around the $70k mark. There are a few 2016's in the DFW area with the A8 that are selling for around $73-75k right now.

It is. You can get the GT350 without ADM. Many have. Just requires a bit more legwork and the willingness to hop on an airplane.

What do you mean 'testing the ACR again'? They never tested the current ACR at best drivers car. A couple years ago, they tested a base Viper and probably a previous gen ACR before that. But the current one hasn't been out to Laguna Seca for BDC

As for no Grand Sport ...

This year was one of the bigger fields they've had, and thats without any 'slow' cars like the Fiat 124 or Focus RS. So Motor Trend limited entrants to 1 car per brand.

Including the Grand Sport or ZL1 would mean bumping the SS/1LE out. For the same reason, they didn't include an LT/1LE either.

Talking about the R model, not the standard GT350.

1- Mustang
2- McLaren
3- Camaro
4- 911

would make a lot of people think they're sponsored by GM and Ford.
That's the line up I ran in my head watching the video.

mcclaren ? seriously who can afford it? maybe a porsche spyder?
I do have to say that after getting used to the C7 the 2ss feels it lacks something maybe its a growl or greater punch but I tend to agree with this statement for the 2SS

How, then, did this record-breaking Camaro not win? There were a few criticisms: a non-linear throttle in Track mode that seemed to go from, say, 50 percent to 100 percent on corner exits; tall gears (especially third) that took the snap out of the acceleration zones; and a long-travel (progressively so) brake pedal that we first noticed descending 198 but that caused Pobst to pump the pedal a few times on track.

can't say I know the 1le.....

the price of GT350R is sickening for 100K

I wonder how the regular shelby would fair?

42K has to be the best bang for your buck... 1le hats off excited for you to come home

So am I understanding the pricing correctly...the GT350R was $92K?

Ok, so the R is a two seater, anyone here gonna buy a GT350R over a Z06?

So? The point of Best Drivers Car isn't to bring in cars that they have never tested before. If it was, they'd never invite the previous years winner back.

The same people that can afford an Audi R8 V10 Plus or Aston Martin V12 Vantage S or Mercedes AMG GT S or Acura NSX.

The McLaren was a lot closer to the average than the Camaro was. In the whole test, only 2 cars came in under $100 grand -the Camaro and the Mustang.

Affordability isn't a criteria.

That makes a lot of sense, but I'm really surprised GM didn't go with the ZL1 over the 1LE.

1LE is lighter and has better weight dist. With the 5th gen they said the 1LE was better balanced than the ZL1.

It's like C7 GS vs Z06.

If I had to pick only 1 new GM performance car for this years Best Drivers Car, I might have gone with a Grand Sport over the 1LE.

Might have.
