Why is it assumed Sport Cup 2s are that superior to these new tires made for the 1LE?
Many of the tires known for being at the top are being matched by newer lower cost models being introduced. Technology and materials advance, tires a few years old become yesterdays news. I doubt if you would see much improvement in lap times. Let's not become fanboys and make excuses how we could've, would've should've.

...and by the way, talking about lap time differences due to tire, doesn't equate to being a "fan boy". If that's the case, is everyone at the track I hang out with fan boys for talking about time differences with different tires? |

I really wish they would have used the "base price" (including all relevant performance options) rather than "as tested". In the article they will probably include both.

ATS-V and M4 are pretty identical to a regular SS, all 3 about ~2 seconds slower than the 6th Gen 1LE. I always said the SS is about a 2-3 second delta slower between the 6th Gen 1LE. Would you guys agree on that? While I'm building the SS I will use the SS 1LE as the benchmark comparo. Those that are purchasing this car from factory, this will be badass! |

1LE
Would a small BHP bump in the 1LE destroy these other cars, while still staying under 50,000?

Needs a better transmission more than anything else. throughout the entire video i was annoyed at how long the gears are in the mt. With better transmission, Ccb, sport cup 2s this car goes toe to toe with gt350r without adding a single hp.

Very nicely done.. I was telling people back in April up at Road America when they were asking about my Auto 2SS w/o 6pots doing as well as it did, to watch out once the 1LE and then the ZL1 come out... You're going to be in for a surprise if they took what my car was doing and added to it. At RA, I had no issues keeping up with and passing all kinds of people in my group on the stock pads/rotors on a track that's notorious for eating through brakes in a couple laps.
Once more and more people show up on courses with 1LEs, they're going to get noticed, a lot... For the price you pay to get one, there's simply not much else that's out there that you can go beat on, have a lot of fun, keep near and pass things you shouldn't and then drive it home on the same hardware and go to the grocery store. |

Interesting that Randy gigs the 1LE for "brake fade"....with six pots and larger rotors, cooling ducts, etc...that's somewhat of a surprise....Stock pads for street and spirited driving will probably be ok....but it sounds like aftermarket pads for track days might be needed...

No excuses here. The 1LE ran what it ran. I'm more than happy with it. That being said I think sport cup 2's might be my first upgrade after I use up the stock goodyears. Quote:
