The navigation is incredible. Anything I look up on google maps on my laptop automatically shows up on my touch screen in my car. And what is really nice on a long trip is I can touch the voice button on the screen and say "restaurants" and it will start listing restaurants in the order of distance from me. I can do the same with gas stations or hotels. Or I can mention a restaurant by name and it will find the closest one and start giving me directions. It is fantastic for traveling.

Sooo... I have the base 7" screen and when I connect to AA, it displays that I have a text message but it doesn't read back the message. It'll show a quick 'Message from' bar in white then when I press it, the indicator disappears. Anybody know if this is normal or not? I'm leaning toward it being normal since it's the base vehicle, but even so, my prior 2014 Chevy Cruze would read the message and let you send quick responses; I just think it's very childish of Chevy to not offer something that's on lesser cars in the higher end base models.

this can sometimes happen when AA doesn't have exclusive access on the phone and your phone's hangouts / text messaging app is still sending notifications / msgs to the phone's display. You should be able to make sure this doesn't happen by A. not using the phone at all from the point of connecting it to the car. and if that's not working B. changing back to the AA app while plugged in and shutting the screen off with the power button. I dont believe i've ever had that not fail but the only instances i've had of what you describe is when i've been purposely switching to my phone's hangouts on the phone while parked and plugged in (with AA active). |

Yes you can, Google Maps work awesome with voice turn by turn.

Thanks gentlemen.
one last thing I've heard about android auto is you can't pick up the phone and navigate to apps not displayed on the mylink display. Is this still true? That's a big one for me as well - as often times voice to text and text to speech aren't accurate - and I need to pick up the phone. |

Yes, you can do this. However, if you switch to your messaging app of choice, it will temporarily bork Android auto's handling of receiving your messages. Just an FYI

Having Android Auto installed today on my SS while it is in for oil change and diff noise (when cold and making tight turns) and bodywork estimate for the dmage the nose took when an unknown object struck it on the highway.
I will consult the manual, but I think I must connect the phone via USB in order to use Android Auto.

My LG G5 can't be navigated while I am using Android Auto either. It has virtual buttons instead of the physical buttons at the bottom. My virtual buttons disappear when I am using android auto. I have never found this to be a problem as everything I care to do on the phone can be done on the touch screen, which is much more convenient.
