I love it and use it every time I drive. It's very easy to navigate the google music app to get to your songs and playlists. The nav also is very easy to use. It stores all of your locations off your google account. You can pull up alternate routes, gas stations, restaurants..etc. I honestly have no complaints. It will be nice when the tech advances to where you won't have to be connected via wire, but that's not a big deal atm. Just a lil something to look forward to.

My LG phone is not one of the supported phones. Is there a list of supported phones anywhere?

I recently made the switch from Iphone to Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge so I have experience with both Carplay and Android Auto. I've got to say that I think Android Auto is a better experience. I'm fairly new to it so, I haven't explored every option and/or setting but, simply from a music standpoint, it's great. One of the main reasons I left Apple was the necessity to use Itunes for music and lack of FLAC support. Also, the lack of external memory addon. I downloaded a few different music player apps that support FLAC on Android and they come up as choices for audio sources in Android Auto. You select it once and the next time you enter the vehicle and hook up, it will be ready to go. Pandora integration is about the same for AA as it is on Carplay. The integration of Google Maps is excellent. I haven't used it much but, from what I did use, it was great. I'm more of a Waze fan though so, I need to figure out how to get that as a default or how to project on screen. Other than that, I give it two thumbs up.

Waze is currently not supported by Android Auto, but Google says it's coming. There was a demo in May, so theoretically it should be very soon. I was hoping it would coincide with the launch of Nougat, but nothing yet...

I forgot to mention one of the most important features of AA. The hands free calling/texting. Hands free calling isn't a new thing, but the hands free texting really impressed me. It usually always records what I say word for word and the reply texts are read in a clear easy to understand voice. I honestly have no reason to have my phone in my hands while driving. Hopefully this tech makes it to ALL vehicles soon, as the number of people I see texting and driving is insane.

Android auto is awesome. However, every once in a while it shits the bed and doesn't work. Nothing I can do. No turning off the car or anything will work. If i leave the car for a few minutes and come back, sometimes that works. Weird.

Only thing that is annoying about Android auto (other than it wants to be overly nanny-tastic) is really a problem that affects Android in general and that's that Google forces their stupid - annoying - network TTS voice regardless of what TTS voice you have selected locally on your device for certain Google applications (including maps and android auto).
I want the voice i selected google! Not your stupid robot chick. Also, google maps is great and all but they refuse to implement persistent saving of options for things like "avoid toll roads". It's literally 1 minute change to make that persistent but after 5 years of people requesting this they have still refused to implement it. Luckily waze supports it. So there is hope. |

Either my USB cable sucks or my phone's port is old but AA disconnects completely too often for me to enjoy it. It's only when I move my phone. I wish it worked through bluetooth tbh.

That's how I do it. If that number isn't in my phone book. Otherwise I just say txt <name from contact list> <message>. Example I can say "txt Ryan, it responds with OK I will txt Ryan, what do you want me to say?", then I say what I want to txt him, then it repeats it back to me and asks if I want to change it or send it. I say send it and off it goes.
