For what it's worth, I'm not sold on the "it's not different enough from the 5th Gen" arguement.
Look at the Porsche 911, or the VW Golf. I can barely tell a new Golf from one 2 generations ago....

With that argument, the Challenger should never have beat the 6gen, in sales as the 15-up version is not that much different from the 08-14 car, from a casual glance.

I think it's $ price and awareness of the fact that it's a new/revised car.

They need to tout the LT1, the chassis and the performance IN THEIR ADS (that are lacking).

It won't solve everything, but some good ol' advertising would be a start......I have yet to see a TV ad.

The adverts would help at least get people on the lots. What's going to turn them off is if the first LT1 Camaro they come across is a $46,000 loaded 2SS, doubly more so if the dealer isn't willing to deal OR order a 1SS.

I know at least two dealers who refuse to order a 1SS without a least $5,000 down, non-refundable, since base cars are "millstones" and "worthless when it comes to moving inventory".

There's only so much GM corporate can do...it's all for nought as long as dealers continue to be jackwagons.

Very true.

This is what the dealership prices are by me.

$43k+ for a V6

$41k + for a 1ss...the only 1ss they have I might add.

http://rp.whitakerchevycadillac.com/...-SC/2757386053

Cheapest 2SS is a 2017 for $46.9K
http://rp.whitakerchevycadillac.com/...-SC/2804868733

They have 31 Camaros listed on their website, 17 of which are 2016 models, and most of those are priced right at $40k and above. Not anywhere can I find them listing any incentives or discounts for their 2016 camaro inventory. Most dealers that I have seen that wanted to move inventory advertise the hell out of intensives and special offers.

Yeah my dealer has quite a few high dollar cars too, looks like they are pushing highly optioned cars .. I understand they probably make more cash on those cars ..... Kinda makes me wish I bought a 2015 SS when they were in the low $30,000 range and some were hitting like $28,000-$29,000 right before the 6th Gen arrived ...

The higher the price with more options=More in the dealers pockets...it's not any mystery as to why they're filling their lots with them.

However, if someone comes in and wants a 1SS, and is a for sure sale..any dealer in their right mind will order it and bring it in. A bird in the hand, yadda yadda.

Right, but they immediately eliminate most window shoppers that are on the fence. It seems like there is a magical wall at $39,995 that a majority hit. If it's not at or below that number, you have eliminated 70% of the middle class shoppers willing to buy new.

Yeah I didn't get a SS but I just called the dealership and listed off everything I wanted. Over the next few days we went over my 2012 as a trade-in and the last step was my credit rating. Did all of this over the phone. In a week it was on the lot and they offered a price $5,000 less than MSRP before any papers were signed.

Just for my own amusement I went back and checked their website and now they've got my trade-in listed for $6000 more than what they gave me for it. So they're trying to make that money back but that's not my problem.

Sales Managers and dealership GM's LOVE to order LOADED black 2ss's, with auto, mag ride, NPP and sunroofs, as their inventory stock!

It seems prevalent across North America!
LOL!

Even looking at a 6th Gen 1SS and my trade in(2013 Camaro 2LT, 10,700miles) and my crazy city sales tax, I'm still looking @ a $40,000 Camaro because the dealers when I went looking weren't really moving much on price ...... That's why I can't afford to buy, it's just a little too much for me right now ...

I think my dealer sold both that they had. They were both 2ss model one auto and one stick. The stick was there a long time. So i looked at a 66k corvette and a 67k pickup and realized im poor. Personally i think gen 6 sales are slowly gonna keep improving and stay pretty steady.

This ^^^^^^^

I think we as enthusiasts know you can order a car. I think a lot of you would be surprised as to how many people did not know that you can order a car exactly how you want it. The reason is the dealers, most dealers (at least in my area) want that sale today. If they don't have it on the lot, they will see if they can do a dealer trade, then try to get you to pick from some that are close to what you want. At least that is how dealers by me seem to work it.

The exact car I wanted was two hours away. No use waiting if they can trailer it over in a day. I have ordered quite a few cars before, so I definitely know that it can be tiresome waiting.

Maybe it's just me but I Do Not want to keep spending more and more on cars, I know folks are going to say that it has more performance, better interior, etc. etc ........ I still would like a good deal and pay less, not more ....
