Sorry if I misled you - I meant that the manual Recaros in the Gen 5 Z/28 had less headroom than the power Recaros in the Gen 5 1LE and ZL1.

Like you, I haven't yet sat in a Gen 6 1LE or ZL1. I'm not so concerned with the width since the foam in Recaros will mold to almost any body shape over time. I am concerned about having enough headroom with a helmet. I'm not sure if I want to start messing with racing buckets, harness bars, fixed mounts, etc... in a brand new car. Just need to wait until I can sit in one at a dealer or auto show.

Fact is it's cheaper to produce the seat one way than it is to make two versions. I like power seat in my autocross cars because if I am belted in and waiting to go and the seat needs a fine adjustment I can't do it easily if it's manual. Also, if you use a lap belt or a harness of some kind you can run the seat back before you strap in and then run it up snug against the belts after. I also agree with it being just a few lbs. Seriously, in a big car you won't notice the weight.

It looks like the seats will be "manual-adjusting Recaro performance front bucket seats"

http://gmauthority.com/blog/2016/08/...ss-trim-level/

Unless it has changed.

I did too, but that's a pre-production model. Maybe in production it will get a manual seat?

Took a screen shot of a video from the Chicago auto show.

Power seats

Either way, power or manual, I don't care, I want that car.

One of the draw backs of my 94, 96 and 98 1LEs (1 less equipment) was that when I was leaving the house or pulling up next to a car or person on the passenger side of the car that wanted to talk, I couldn't. To far to reach the window crank on the passenger side to lower the window to talk. And yes the seats were manual only. Also no T Top. On balance having no options or T Tops saved about 250 lbs and added rigidity. So it did what it was supposed to do. Now the SLP sourced 1LEs of 2000-2002 were more fully optioned cars. heck my 94 and 96 didn't even have AC. The 98 did which I admit I appreciated.

The blue 1LE from MTBDC also had power seats, so the production version must have them.

Your comment was directed to someone else, but just wanted to throw out my opinion. I sat in both the 1LE and ZL1 at the Camaro Fifty event. I thought the 1LE seat was a bit tight in my shoulder area, but otherwise really comfortable. The ZL1 supposedly has the same seat frame, but didn't feel as tight in my shoulder area (both were prototypes, so maybe didn't have the final seat version in them??).

It was snug enough (in shoulder area) that I'd recommend sitting in one before ordering. It had been a while since I sat in a Focus ST, but it kind of reminded me of that seat.

For what it's worth, I'm tall / skinny (6'2 / 175lb).

I'm hoping for power. Manual Recaros don't offer the right adjustment. The Manual ones in the Focus ST are like stuck in a permanently awkward position.
