It was going to take 3-4 days, so they gave me a brand new Z71 to drive until my truck was fixed, and no, they never tried to sell me the Z71. Dealers may do this with people who buy brand new vehicles but rarely for people who've bought a used vehicle. They also have multiple world class technicians, I grew up with and have been friends with one of them for 20 years. This dealer is the only "small town" locally owned dealerships left in this area.

After looking at my Customer Acknowlegment Form, it actually states "Chevrolet Maintenance covers two scheduled oil and oil filter changes and tire rotations, in accordance with your new vehicle's recommended maintenance schedule and Oil Life Monitoring system". Considering the manufacturer's recommended services are to be performed at 20% oil life or once every year, which ever comes first. Unless you can produce something in writing from Chevrolet stating that their service recommendations and the oil life monitoring system has no bearing on whether they reimburse the dealer or not for scheduled maintenance during the 2 year 24 month service period, I'd say they may be telling the truth.
Not sure, All I know is most have had there oil changed whenever they wanted, some got push back from dealers while others had no issues at all. I've had two different dealerships change my oil and neither said a thing when I wasn't below 20%.

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

Yup, great dealership. Luckily I live 5 miles from the dealership and 20 miles from the beach.

Why does anybody think they have to dump their oil at 500 or even 1500 miles?

Answer with a fact.

I changed mine at 800 miles, GM took care of it, then at 4000 miles and GM took care of that also. My dealership is the best that I've seen and they take good care of all my Chevy's. Wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

It isn't about junk oil, it about the tiny metal particles that are created when breaking in any engine. All engines do this. With today's oils is it really a big deal? No, however many of us wish to just get that stuff out of the engine.

There was someone on here who saved a sample of his original oil and had it sent to lab and tested, it in fact did have metal particles in it.
