Start on MO-7 in Climax Springs, go East to 8.2mi to J road.
11.5mi on J then turn East on US-54, 6.5mi to D road.
Spend some time at Ha Ha Tonka S.P., the Castle is pretty cool.
Continue D road South until you get to MO-5, turn right (South) to Lebanon.
From Lebanon then turn West on MO-64 to Bennett Springs S.P.

Warm up your left leg and your right arm before you start M6 guys!

I own a lake lot (actually a few lots) at Pie Acres. Oh yea!! about Ha Ha Tonka. Walk up to the ruins and just such a cool view. When I was younger, you could jump off the cliffs around the spring and swim in the spring.

Yes. Also, this time of year, US 1 in ME from I-295 North. Break off and tour Mt. Desert Island / Acadia National Park, then back north to Calais.

One of my favorite drives is Highway 49 from Nevada City to Sierraville in Northern California. It's a smooth ribbon of 2 lane road that winds through the mountains. It follows the North Fork Yuba River most of the way. Very twisty with lots elevation change. Crazy fun and challenging to drive fast and best of all, almost no traffic in the fall and spring. I discovered this road when I was flyfishing the North Fork Yuba. The fishing is spectacular and so are the views. Downieville is about halfway through and is a great place to stop and eat lunch.

If you are heading to Key West, take a night at Big Pine Key (Old Oaken Bridge Hotel). It is a step back in time. Due to the key deer and it being a national game preserve, almost no development has taken place since the late 70s. Sunset is when the deer come out. Roughly 900 of the 1,100 or so surviving deer are on Big Pine and No Name keys. Take a day in a kayak around the mangroves with Captain Bill Keough (originally from Maine, BTW).

My last trip down was in the 350Z roadster. Not a bad way to see the Keys.

Everyone knows about California's Hwy 1 (PCH) with Big Sur being the highlight. Just amazing scenery, panoramic views from high above the ocean, sea lions, etc. Lots of turnouts so the driver can take in the scenery without endangering everyone. Not a fast road though, lots of RVs etc.

The hidden gem IMO is Santa Rosa Creek Rd from Cambria over to Templeton. Again, not a fast road, but beautiful and lonely with plenty of curves and then tree-shaded farmland. This is the route I drove with my family on a road trip a few years ago.

Another very memorable drive is Utah's Hwy 14 from US-89 to Cedar City. Up over the mountain, driving past black lava beds. Just stunning. I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong anywhere in southern Utah, but that one is my favorite.

Put this one in your back yard. J Road from US 54 to MO 7 over the Little Niangua. Left on 7 past Pie Acres and down to Climax Springs. MO 7 was rated one of the 10 best driving roads in the U.S. by Road & Track magazine in 1990.

The view from the bluffs past the bridge is truly picturesque.

One of my favorite roads to wring out my Lotus Europa S on.
I just google mapped this. This drive is 3.8 hours from my home. So either a 12 hour drive or an overnighter and I have it.

If you decide to do it in the fall, peak color there is October 15 or so. Pm me and I'll cruise it with you. It has one of the only steel cable suspension bridges left in MO.

You are 100% correct, I live about a half hour away from Nevada City, and this is a fantastic drive/road.

Just drove the Tail of the Dragon this morning. Great day for it, not too busy. Only hold up was I got behind a group of Goldwings. But they pulled off to the side and let me by. Then I hit the Cheroholla Skyway. I can't wait for Killboy to load up the pictures.

This pic was taken shortly after the tail.
